Pool closures?

We are going to stay in GCH on Christmas this year. One of my girl's favorite parts of our vacations are the pools

Someone told me that the Hotels close the pools when the weather is bad or cold.

Does anyone know if this is true? Do they ever close the GCH pool? And if so how often is the weather cold enough in Anaheim to actually close the pools?

BTW... my girls could care less if the weather was bad. Anaheim could be having a blizzard (everyone else would be in panic mode) and they would be on the water slide.

Not sure about closures, but it only gets cold for us So Cal natives! I think in the coldest of winters it gets down to the high 40s during the day. But usually 50/60s. I really can't imagine the hotel not opening their pools for cold weather. I could see limited service, though.

However, they do not really heat the pools, so maybe the do close them since hardly anyone would go in them!

Helpful, no?

Thanks. We have very few cold days where we are at, too.
I will probably be bundled up in a blanket on a lounge chair while they are swimming.

A few years ago we stayed at the DLH in early December and it was cold and raining and we swam! The pool was really warm and we had a blast! The only hard part was getting out of the water! LOL

They heat the pools. Of course if you go during the summer and the air is warmer than the water, it's hard to tell, but when it's colder outside, then you can tell.

I've never heard of them closing pools based on anything but there being something wrong with the pool.

In the winter they do do all of the annual maintenance never over the busy Chirstmas period. As bumbershoot notes there could be a small problem that force it to be closed, like broken pumps or someone who skipped using swim diapers. Weather is not a problem at all for heated pools.

Thank you all. I am sure a Christmas day swim is in our future this year. :cool1:

When my kids were younger, it didn't matter when we visited. Swimming was at the top of their list to do when we arrived (since we wouldn't be going to the parks until the next day). We would swim be in December, February, April, July, August whenever we went.
