I have a nephew, who lives with my brother in the Tampa area who will come visit for the day, he is 5. If I stay at BC will my nephew be allowed to go to stormalong bay with us?

They scan MBs at SAB. Everyone's MB - even the kids. If your villa is not at full occupancy, you should add him to the reservation so that he can use the pool too.

Can you add him to the reservation?

I can but I would have to then pay for his dining plan for 8 nights and I really wasn't wanting to do that. My brother literally brings him to me in the morning and gets him back at about 9 pm. It was never an issue with the other resorts, he was at the pool at Poly with us, and SSR, and Kidani. But I know BC is really strict.

Add him the day you arrive, and then he won't have to be on the dining plan.

And unless you asked, he shouldn't have been in any of those other pools with you. They are for paying guests who stay at that resort only. The lifeguards can make exceptions, but it is wrong to just bring in family members on your own. Btw, 2 of the pools you mentioned having him at are strict. You got lucky you were not caught.

Unfortunately, he has to be a registered guest to use the pool at SAB. I'm not sure if you can add him to your DVC stay at check in if you have the dining plan. I know that it's possible with a cash reservation but I seem to recall that it somehow messes up or even cancels the dining plan if it's a DVC stay. Can anyone confirm (or dispute) this? I've never tried it myself. TiW has always been a better deal for us than the DDP.

You should be able to add him to your reservation upon your arrival at your resort (not in advance) without him needing to be on the dining plan.

Is there a limit to how many people you can add at check-in without incurring the dining plan charge? Can you add 2/3/4 kids or adults if there is space in the room?

I don't know. Maybe someone else can answer this.

You can fill a room to the occupancy limit. The loophole of doing it at check-in is based on the requirement that the dining plan has to be added at least two days in advance of arrival. Since it's inside of the two-day requirement, you can't add the dining plan.

The last couple of years adding people at check in has become more difficult. Generally it means cancelling and rebooking the reservation putting both the points and the DP at risk. If you could use the credits, I'd just add him otherwise I'd check with the front desk but not let them rebook the room. They can add him as a day guest now I believe.

Yes I went through this last year. The dining part caused the problem. The front desk refused to let me add our grandson to our room because we had the dining plan. I didn't believe them so called MS and was told the info was correct. So my grandson stayed in our room...they refused to give him a day pass to SAB. The front desk knew, but wouldn't add him to our reservation. We had a studio and was a party of 2. They said if we didn't have ddp they could do it, but with the ddp, they would have to rebook our reservation and I didn't want the front desk messing with my account, and I would have to add him to my ddp. I was disappointed because I read on the disboards, this was easy. We even talked to the manager and was told no. my grandson was 21.

IMO this is the answer they should give but they've been inconsistent in this area. There was a recent report of someone having no trouble adding a guest as a day visitor.
