Pool and Beach Access

For pool and beach access do we need room key and is the pool gated liked WDW is . With kids potentially running from one area to another just don't want to have deal with any issues of them not having hotel ID on them.

The pools are not fenced or gated. There is a gate for the beach access. You will need your room key to go from beach back into the resort area.

In 20 days visiting Aulani, the beach gate has never been closed. You need everyone's card to get wrist bands. You don't need your card after that.

Same here - never needed our room key card to get into the gate from the beach. As mentioned, you will need to stop by the towel hut every morning with key cards to get a wristband for everyone from the day. Once your wristbands are on, you will not have an issue using the pools. The beach is public but you will need a wristband to use Aulani's chairs on the beach.

The beach is public property by state law. During the day they're required to provide free access to the beach.
