My family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children under 9) used the Deluxe plan this past week for 3 nights and 4 days. For us, it was the perfect plan for a busy Spring Break week and I have very few regrets. We didn't use all or our meals, but I know we came out ahead on the money the food would have cost us.

We arrived on Sunday around 9 am.

Our First Meal was Sci-Fi. The kids all substituted milk shakes for desserts and got a bottled water with their meal.

We had 4 frozen lemonades at MGM. Total $16

Hubby had onion rings, I had blt soup. Both of us enjoyed hamburgers (really good.) One of us got a coke, one a large bottled water.

This was a really filling meal. Our total with tax was about $96.

For dinner that night, we had reservations at Marakesh, but the kids were too tired and we ended up at our resort (POR). Boatwrights is just OKAY. We all had meals minus dessert...hubby got an apple pie to go. Total was $95 with tax.

Sunday dining totals: 207

Monday. Woke up early and got our mugs from the fast food area. Total $65

Also purchased one big breakfast with a bottled water and a bottled juice: Total $16

Character Meal at 1900 Park Fare for late breakfast. Total with tax $101.

O'hana For Dinner. Total was 120.

3 Large Fries at the McD's FF Cart --$8
2 bottled waters: $4
2 bottled cokes" $5

2 small pizza meals in the foodcourt during the afternoon. $21

Monday's Total : 340

Tuesday

Yak and Yetti for lunch $125 (we had mahi mahi 3 appetizers, and desserts)
Garden Grill for Dinner $120

another pizza meal: $8

4 ice creams $12

Tuesday total: 265

Wednesday

Crystal Palace: $118
More French Fries: $8
14 rice crispy mickey bars: $42

Wednesday Total: 168

980 worth of food. Disney meal plan cost: 600

I did not want lots of counter service meals because it was busy season. And counter service meals is difficult with 3 young kids!

Really pleased with the meal plan.:dance3:

I am glad to see that you made out
I am on the fence as to ddp or deluxe
thanks:hippie:

I can't wait to do the deluxe plan in May! Thanks for the report. :goodvibes

We are currently signed up for the basic plan but you made a GOOD point about trying to do counter service w/ three small children. I am going to talk to dh. (Not sure I can get more ADRs this close but maybe I should try!)
Thanks!

wow, that's great value!! i am so happy to read this 'cause we are planning to upgrade to the DxDDP when we are on bounceback free dining...

just tell me again 'cause i cannot seem to remember... does the Deluxe Plan include appetizers? gratuity? (i'm thinking one and not the other!)

Glad to read this we are doing deluxe in Dec. Thanks

The deluxe does include appitizer but not tip.

I made some reservations we didn't make. Just too tired to make it to an early dinner one night, so ended up eating later at O'hana.

My kids never complained about the sit-down meals. The slowest service was Yak and Yetti, but it was only about an hour total.

I don't know that I'd want the deluxe for a longer trip. But the food is similar for the kids either way...but the adults meal offer more nutrition and I was able to give my kids veggies etc off our plates.

I LOVED having appetizers to eat...but they do slow the meal down.

I love having a dining plan...any dining plan.

Our only out of pocket was tips...I think we spent an extra $46 on souvies in the parks.

LOved the Deluxe plan for this trip, but will always consider what's best for each trip. The time of year and what we want to accomplish impacts that decison.
