My wife and I spend little time here and there at Disney after work, etc. We haven't really done much.. We are both big, and she is scared to get on some things- she thinks we won't both fit.

For reference, we both fit perfectly on the Haunted Mansion Doom Buggy's.

How do the Fantasyland Dark ride seats compare in size to the Doom Buggy's? What about the Pooh ride? I've asked before and people have said that we would fit, then when we got there, she saw the little car outside of Mr. Toad's wild ride and thought we wouldn't both fit.

Thoughts?

Also- do they allow single riders? I was fine riding these seperate, she thinks they won't let us.

(if you haven't guessed alread- yes! She is very paranoid and has some anxiety issues, so this isn't helping!)

Of course they would allow you to ride singly. :)

Hubby is just over 300 now, but he was 340 last year when we went. He's 5'10", so a decent height, but it's not as spread out as if he were 6'4". The ONLY ride he has ever had a real problem with was Maliboomer, and that is something probably unique to the way he carries his weight. His back is extremely broad and thick, so he's much further "forward" than someone who carries their weight mainly in the belly, or spread around the thighs and such. The shoulder things come down and clip somehow onto the seat, and they just couldn't get the clip clipped. They were not disrespectful at all, but he couldn't ride it.

On the Pooh ride, DH rides in the second or third row. The front row seems smaller, and I read of someone who is both "Pooh" sized and had a knee replacement that she had an extremely hard time getting out. I think that's b/c she was in the front row. Just request to not sit in a front seat of the vehicle.

DH was fine on Toad's, though he did ride singly b/c me and our 3 year old wouldn't all fit, and 3 year olds can't really ride it alone. :)

The dark rides have been fine for him.

Besides maliboomer, the main problems he has had is when he rides with our son on something with a lap bar, b/c when it fits him, DS is free-floating.

Oh, and the "bumper cars" at DCA in a bug's land...I can barely recommend those. DH can't go in them at all with DS, and probably wouldn't be comfy enough to ride alone. He did fit, he just wasn't comfortable, but that ride does seem to be sized "down" b/c it's heavily geared towards kids (but we all fit in everything else).

To answer that question again...if you want to ride singly just to make sure, go for it, just put one finger up, or tell them "one and one" when they ask how many are riding, and go for it! Those have worked for us!

Would it work for her at all to look around at the other guests? If she has a sense of her size in relation to others, that might help. But if not (DH and I have both had problems understanding how big, or how small, we are or were or are getting at the time, LOL) it might not be a suggestion worth even bringing up... But I know that DH will look at some bigger guy on a ride and say "am I as big as him? he's on that ride, so I can go, right?" Because his sense of self lies to him and tells him that he is bigger than he actually is, the answer is almost always that he is not as heavy as whatever guy he's looking at, and he's fine on the ride. Except for Maliboomer, but again, his back is very thick, and I don't usually see people carrying their weight like he does, so I don't know that anyone should actually *worry* about the same thing happening to them.

Oh, and, of course, if there's a seat belt, pull it all the way out before you sit down. Just like on an airplane, it makes things much much easier.

This is me. As you can see, I'm a Pooh-sized woman myself. We went to DL in November so maybe I can be of some help.

As Bumbershoot mentioned...the back seats of the dark rides seem to be more spacious than the front.

As for riding by yourself...yes, you can. Example: when we rode the Matterhorn and we approached the CM who was boarding us...he asked how many, I said 1 and 1. I sat in the front seat, DH sat in the back.

Tell your sweety-pie for me that she's going to have a blast at DL. It's the most Pooh-sized-friendly theme park in the world.

I agree with the other posters. Disneyland is much more accomodating to Pooh sized riders than other places. I am 240 lbs now but was closer to 250-260 and I have never had any problems with the rides there. I have not tried Maliboomer so I am unsure of that one. I aggree that the back rows of Pooh are a bit bigger as are the other dark rides and I am sure they will let you ride single rider. Have a great time :)

Thanks! She doesn't really want to ride alone, she feels people will look at her more. I think people will notice us anyway cause we're big. Either way! I really want to ride them lol. So I'll go it alone!

I dunno maybe its just me but weight has never bothered me at disneyland. I think people are so into DL and what they are doing they really aren't paying attention. I don't really notice that kind of stuff when I am at DL. I hope you have a good time anyway and tell your DW not to worry so much. Its the happiest place on Earth and no one should take that away from her. :grouphug:

I know allears.net has a "WDW at large" page which describes all the rides from the perspective of a pooh sized person, but I don't know if there is one for DL. http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/ridsiz.htm is the link. I am sure that many of the rides that are the same as WDW would be described at that site. And my over 300lb sis rode everything at WDW!!! She felt really good about it too because she read through that page on allears and realized that there are LOTS of pooh sized folks at Disney and she knew the tips and tricks to riding many of the rides (like the pulling the seatbelt out thing). Anyway, I know it's not DL specific, but maybe that will still help her. Everyone should have fun at DL and it is a vacation AWAY from reality :goodvibes I hope you have a magical trip. :wizard:

What a relief to hear all this! (Thank you OP) I am Pooh Sized myself. when we went in 06 I was Pooh sized and I know I've put on a few more lbs since then so I was a bit anxious about my up-coming trip. Now my size is one less thing to worry about!!

Thanks!I wish we had something like that for Disneyland.

having arthritis in my hip the only things that bother me to get in and out of are thing syou have to climb in, just about anyway, matterhorn is a PITA to get out, so is the for the life of me I cannot think of the name, the rockets that go in a circle. the roger rabbit ride bothers me to get out of, getting in is not my problem as you may see. . . ROFL! so if she has no mobility issues she should be fine on everything. . .

Tell your wife not to worry!!! I'm very pooh sized myself and have even done disney pooh-sized and 7 months pregnant.
No one cared or noticed and I'm pretty sensitive to that kind of thing.
There are SO many of us who aren't "little" at Disneyland that she won't need to waste any time or energy on worrying. Just go and have a good time.
No one will care if she and you ride singly. Just enjoy!!

Just to let some people know, a few weeks ago my sister and I went to the park, we were ask to switch from the front of Space Mountain to the back. My sister is Pooh Sized as well as tall (5'10"). The back seat had way more leg room so was no issue.

If you are ever worried you can always ask a CM before getting on a ride. But over all the reports are great and let her know that the rides really are well designed to work for just about everyone.

audrabolster, so how did everything go? Other than the monte christo problems you mentioned elsewhere. :)

I'm Pooh sized as well - 5'11" and 250, size 22!!!! Any one tried the Tea Cups? I'm worried about my tummy becoming stuck, but at the same time down want to let down DD.

If my hubby at one inch shorter than you and 50 pounds heavier, can fit in the tea cup and not get stuck, you won't either. :)

Same goes for the Francis ride in a bug's land. :upsidedow

Thanks Molly - I worry about everthing, including that. At a local themepark, we have "Dorothy's Tea Party" which has the same concept on a much much smaller basis. That was a very uncomfortable 2 or 3 minutes I was on that with DD (size wise, the spinning was easy). I was so glad when it was over!!!!

The one ride where my 6'4" (and quite heavy) DH is miserable is Mullholland Madness. It's just not built for a guy that size. Ride as singles if you need to for comfort. Matterhorn is okay if he sits alone but not with someone else.

I was 255 when I went on MM with my DH who is 145 and together we were not very comfy...

Ugh, DBF and I have a hard time trying to squish in one seat together. We're both kind of tall (he's 5'10", I'm 5'9") and he's a big (not quite Pooh sized, but big, I'm average..) and my knees are just smashed up on the handle bars the whole time.. Ugh, it's fun, but it hurts.. :headache:
