I would love to ride the carousel at the MK but I'm a pooh sized gal and I'm thinking I might be too heavy. What do you think is the maximum weight those beautiful ponies can handle?

Okay, I did not find anything about Cindy's carousel specifically. But, from what I googled, the typical weight limit of a carousel is 175 lbs. One of our local amusement parks has one where the limit is 200 lbs. That said, I am sure we have all seen people much larger than that on carousels, so the capacity is probably greater.
I think out of sheer politeness, even if there is a weight limit, if you are somewhat even remotely in the vicinity of the weight limit, they are not going to ask you your weight or recommend you not ride. Now, I don't know what the cutoff would be, if there is some point where they have to say, "You know you should probably ride on the bench" but I would say as long as you are within reason, you will be fine and dandy.
I say if you can get your leg up over the saddle..hold on and enjoy the ride!

I cant believe that. My husband and boys have been on the carousel millions of times and they all weigh over 200lbs and are thin! DS16 is 6'3", weighs 220and wears a size 32/34 pants. Hes not even close to being too big for the carousel!

This reminds me of an incident this past winter where my fiance and I decided to ride the carousel just before MK closing, which we've done many times without issue, but this time I was dead tired. The carousel was kinda crowded and when we finally found two together, they had stopped hiiiiiiiiiiigh up in the air. Well Mr. 6'3" had no problem hopping onto his, but as for me....the horse's saddle was about level with my head and I had NO upper arm strength left at that point in the night. I had one foot in the stirrup but just sorta hung there for a few minutes while DF leaned over from his other horse saying "you can do it! just throw your leg over!"
until he saw it was fruitless and wound up getting off his horse so we could exit the carousel. Ahhh, Disney memories!
....if you can get yourself on a horse go for it!
I would say that is a good guideline.....if you can get your leg up over the saddle..hold on and enjoy the ride!
Wow, well I think I will give it a try!!! Without giving away my weight, I do weigh between 200-250lbs. Sounds like I'll be ok. I'm sure the carousel at MK is a lot sturdier and better built than the ones at the local amusement parks, know what I mean? I was riding the one at my local 6 Flags last night and it was all torn up and the horses were in need of a paint job(some of them had paint just splashed on the seat, pathetic looking)and I never would've trusted getting on that thing as light weight and rickety as it looked. That thought is what prompted this post. I saw my children riding and having fun and I wanted to remember what it was like to have the wind in my hair, riding up and down on the horses. I know my husband will get a kick out of pooh sized me on my carousel horse LOL but I don't care who else will! Thanks everyone I love this board sooo much!!!
