Okay...I'm at the World now....it is Christmas Eve. The rest of my family ( save my hubby) are at MK to see the parades and fireworks. Why aren't hubby and I there? :sad1: Because I walked around in the heat today and the sweaty seam of my jeans has irritated the skin in a very *ahem* tender area of my upper thigh and I can hardly walk. *sad sigh* what a way to spend Christmas Eve :(

I am returning to the world either with a newbie friend or alone for the Princess 1/2 marathon in March, for a whole week (woot!! :cool1: ) That said, I am now worried that I'll end up in the same predicament then.

So, here is my question.... how do other pooh-ish sized people deal with issues of chafing and serious skin deterioration? I have NEVER had this problem before, even with 10 years of living through Australian summers without an air conditioner. This is a first for me and I am so embarassed and upset over it. Hubby has been wonderful tho...... Any types of clothing that people could suggest would be good. I've got body glide for the March trip (saw it in the bathroom as I was packing for this trip and it NEVER to me occurred that I would need it!!)

Suggestions are welcome....thanks in advance!!!

get out of them jeans and find some comfortable clothes like capris. You should use talcum powder to absorb moisture as that is what I use on hot days under the belly, nether regions and around the bra. If the seam is rubbing then you need something between you and the seam. Bloomers come to mind and they do sell ladies long leg aka boy style boxers and briefs. Cotton absorbs but I like nylon better as it moves better on me. I remember one person sewed along the inside of their pants a lining. Powder is the biggest blessing. Also you could air out the pants in the restroom and make sure you towel down as that is what I do. I grab some paper towels and make sure i am dry. I feel for you hun. If it is really red then neoporin to soothe it then gently dry off. It does hurt and I feel so sorry.

*lol* I was checking the forcast last week and weather channel had Orlando as being cooler (high of 77)....so, I packed for my trip (coming down from Atlanta). Then, lo and behold, things changed to hot and sunny!! ACK...here I was with only 2 t-shirts, 2 pairs of jeans and LOTS of turtlenecks and my Christmas sweater vests. OOOPS! I tried to find ANY sort of non-denim pants while at the parks today. Found a pair of yoga type pants at MouseGear that were my size...but they were KERMIT GREEN, and looked 'unfinished'. As a 30-something travelling with my family, they would NEVER have let me live it down if I had worn those tomorrow.

SO...tonight I am borrowing some cream from my 18 month old nephew *lol...reallllly glad he is here at this point!!!* Tomorrow, I am borrowing a pair of bike short style undies from my ....*gasp* hubby and wearing them under my jeans in the hope that they will act as a buffer.

Thanks for the 'luvees' link! I will DEFINITELY be checking them out before my March trip!!! Might even start wearing more dresses :)) Something I KNOW my hubby would like!

keep the ideas coming gang :)) Y'all rock!:worship:

Take a taxi to Wal-Mart which last I looked was down South of WDW near that horse site and the croc farm, Not the one that burned down. They are open 24 hours. Disney was where I got a cold because they had no large sized clothing other than one sweatshirt and some british scarfs.

i chafed every trip here is what i do

prevent it with body glide they sell it at sporting good stores it goes on like a deoderant and is invisable it is a preventative 1st day i didnt have it cause it was in my lugage and i got chafed bad so what you do is use diaper rash cream if u dont have a baby they sell it at resort or 1st aid in park
i put alot on every morining and it does wonders its not fun but u forget after a while that its there and it WORKS

scottsod

Gold Bond powder
Diaper cream
either one does wonders.

I agree with previous poster that a quick trip by taxi to Walmart might be well worth the cost.

For larger size clothes on property you might ask at the front desk if they know what stores would carry the size you need.

Every year I would spend winter with gloves and warm clothing at Disneyland and would see countless frozen southlanders. For some reason Disney could not grasp the idea that in winter they could buy for a few bucks hats, scarfs, and gloves then sell them for ten bucks each.

One of the downsides of my trips to WDW and DLR was that lack of plus sized clothing for kids and adults. Sometimes I could find a men's 2X or even 3X shirt or sweatshirt but rarely and the choice on both coast was minimal. I can be a hot momma in slinky dresses and shorts if I was a size 10 but I am not.

For my trip to San Antonio there was a hurricane possibly headed toward that town. I was told to plan for extreme heat and muggy weather. I packed some cold weather items and was glad I did. The convention was cool at times and I did wear some of my warmer clothing. Always have a plan B because plan A always seems to have snafus, lol.

I hope you are feeling better and had some fun despite the ouchies. Mom uses Destin and the one called Butt Paste is good but is yucky to put on and wear.

I know that I may be a little late in posting this tip for you but....I always use my "stick deoderant" in those places(thighs, breast and then of course, underarms). I have never used Bodyglide, as my "Sure" Stick deoderant always does the trick !!!:thumbsup2
I actually got that tip here on the Disboards many years ago ....I use it whenever it's hot out ...most summer days up here in Massachusetts.
Good Luck and I hope you get some relief and enjoy the rest of your vacation!:santa:

I use Monistat Soothing Care Chafing Relief Powder-Gel. I put it on before heading out to the parks and then again when we return in the afternoon/evening. And capri's are my best friend!

capri's are my best friend!

Agreed!:thumbsup2 We were there in July when it was hot and unbearably sticky. I wore either cotton capris or capri-length yoga pants that were also cotton and I didn't have any problems with chafing whatsoever.

Now my feet..that was another matter. By the end of the first day, they were swollen and had started to bruise on the bottom and along the sides. By the end of the last day, I was in AGONY. :faint: When we got home, I had to stay off my feet for 2-3 days just for the swelling to go down and the bruises to start to fade a bit.

For my feet I wear Crocs with no-show socks. I don't care how tacky it looks, comfort is more important. That took care of my usual blisters/painful feet problems and at night I rubbed my feet with peppermint foot lotion.

I use the Monistat too and it is fantastic. Never a chafing problem in WDW and according to my pedometer I walked over 45 miles when we were there in October.

I also sometimes wear the Crocs with no show socks and use the peppermint foot lotion :thumbsup2.

Maybe we think alike because we are midwesterners? :rotfl: I live in Carbonale, IL not far from St. Louis at all.

Yes we are practically neighbors!!! And I have read your trip reports and LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I think you also mentioned that your fiance' has worked with children with autism? Have you been to WDW recently? I would love to read another trip report from you!

Hi neighbor!! Thank you so much for your kind words about the TR's. Yes, Bill has worked with children with Autism and we love them. We were at WDW in June, Oct, and Nov. The picture in my siggy is the latest TR "Introducing Amy", from our October trip. I have a couple of videos of Bill either loading or unloading from rides in his wheelchair with more to come.

Sorry about the OT Alphabetsoup, how did the rest of your trip go?

I am in the middle of reading your Amy TR right now!!! What a fun thing to do on my last day of vacation before going back to work TOMORROW. :sad1: We went to WDW last April and stay at the Polynesian. I had a incident with DD in the lobby (she decided to bolt out the door and DH was parking the car at the time while I checked us in). I had to run after her and apologized to the CM checking us in after I came back with her.... I want to think he thought we needed some extra pixie dust because he gave us an upgrade from garden view to club level! It was an amazing trip but I never got around to writing a full report or posting all of our food porn...

Our next trip is this March and we are staying for 7 nights at CBR.
