Pooh-sized ladies... clothing shopping vent!

I'm a pooh-sized lady and just spent a very frustrating morning/afternoon shopping for clothes. I can't understand why the makers of larger sizes think that just because my waist is bigger, that my ankles should be too! All of the pants I tried on have ridiculously large legs. I finally settled on a few pairs, but I'll have to have all of them altered in the pantlegs. Am I the only one with this problem? I used to shop at Fashion Bug because I just loved their LA Blues jeans. They are the only ones I've ever found to fit me right. Well, now they've gone and done something to them. I tried on mulitple pairs this morning and none of them fit. I used to be able to just pick up my size and buy them without even trying them on. Not anymore! Where do you shop for pooh-sized clothes?

One thing that bothers me with pooh-sized clothing is the length of long sleeves. Just cuz I'm short and have a round tummy does not mean my knuckles are scraping the ground :(
Every winter (all 6 - 8 weeks down here!) I have to roll up the sleeves of every sweater or long sleeved shirt I put on.

I've also noticed that these clothing makers seem to think we are color-blind or lack fashion sense. I am trying to hide my tummy. I don't need to wrap it in bold patterns with florescent colors!

Lane Bryant has great jeans that I love. Not the catalog though, I don't think other than a swimsuit, I've ever purchased anything from their catalog and liked it at all.

Why do they think that because I am Pooh sized that I like polyesther?!!!

If there is a Catherine's near you, they have a very nice selection, but most of it is a little pricey, unless you catch their sales.

I've never looked at Lane Bryant in the store. A friend once mentioned them to me, but I only looked at the website. Yuck! :scared: I'll take a peek in the store next time I'm at the mall.

I so agree to both of these complaints. I also have problems with the "rise" of the pants. I have a round tummy but when I pull the pants up they come up under my breasts. So, when I walk they sag and bunch. Eww, I hate that.

Tina, have you tried the Just My Size catalog/web site. They also carry some of the stuff at Walmart. I love their denim loose fit leggings. They have nicely tapered legs and come in black, blue, khaki and sometimes another color. Really like them and the waist is not too big. Junonia also has a style of tapered leg pants but they are very pricey. I have a pair I have been wearing for 3 yrs. or more and still looking very nice.

I hate clothes shopping.

I looked up Catherine's & found one not too far from me. I'm going to check them out. :D

I used to do alot of my clothes shopping in Kohl's and Sears. But now their plus sized dept. stink. You have to really go thru every rack to find stuff.

I used to love Lane Bryant stores, but it seems hit or miss for me lately. Their panties & bras are great however. They fit very well, are comfortable and last for a long time.

I do like Wal Mart--but again, it's hit or miss. They do carry alot of Just My Size stuff. And their prices are great. I got a great knee length beige skirt there in May for $15--I've worn it about once a week since. And all I have to do is throw it in the washer & dryer and it looks great.

I miiss the plus sized Disney skirts and dresses! Always great quality and good pricing.

The other thing I had about plus sized clothing is the fact they feel the need to attach a tie to every dress. I don't need anything else to encourage someone to ask me "so when are you due??"

I do almost all of my shopping at Cato's. It has nice "in style" clothing.

I like Wal-mart jeans.

I have been able to find some things at lanybryantcatalog.com and also Romans and Jessica London online but be advised that their clothing runs HUGE!!! The shirts are HUGE so I usually order 2 sizes smaller than what I would buy in the store.

I like the in store Lane Bryant jeans but I usually wait until they go on sale.

I too have a hard time finding pants that will fit me properly.

I have the problem of them coming up to my breasts too, and then I tug them down and the crotch hangs around my knees:eek:

I have found that I need "Petite" Plus Size (sounds contradictory). They are made with a shorter rise and shorter legs and therefore fit me better. They are not easy to find though.

I also have the problem with the waist fitting good and then the legs are so big that I could almost fit 2 legs in each leg.

Wouldn't it be nice just to be able to find something that is properly proportioned and fits right ::yes::

I ordered my jeans through Womans View the catalog from Sears and they fit perfectly, didn't even need to hem them. :D
The one thing I hate about Fashion Bug is that all the shirts seem to be short in lenght. Although I am only 5'2" it is my legs that are short I have a long torso and I want a shirt that will a least come to my butt if not go past it. I have found Sears sells longer shirts, now if we could just get them to make the clothing cute in stead of ugly. Just because I am pooh-sized does not mean that I like big bold prints and ugly colors.

I like the jeans in Wal-Mart (I think the brand is Riders?). They have a little stretch to them which helps right when they come out of the dryer. :o
JMO...Lane Bryant is too expensive...they think that just because I'm big in the butt, I'm big in the pocket too. I don't shop there.
Wal-Mart, Target, JCPenney have nice Pooh sized clothes.

Lane Bryant stores are owned/operated by Lerners, I believe. The catalog is run by the same people who run Roamans. Totally different companies.

If you check the web sites the store site is www.lanebryant.com. The catalog sites is www.lanebryantcatalog.com. JYFI.

Actually Lane Bryant used to be owned by Limited Brands but was sold to Charming Shoppes a couple of years ago. Lerner is independed of that. Both Lane Bryant and Lerner sold their catalog business to Brylane which operates Roamans and has nothing to do with the store operations of either of those businesses. It doesn't help your situation but I thought I mention it since they're all my customers and I frequently help to inform who is related to who.
Good luck with your situation!

Guess I'm in the minority but I love Lane Bryant catalog. I'm younger but I'm not into all this hip crap - especially for work clothes - and they seem to have styles I like. I have to have all pants hemmed because I'm 4'10" but if I get their petite plus I'm fine. I got these shirts that I really like - they are like "waffle" type tops and I love them - they are so comfy. And I got them at a very good price. Now going to Lane Bryant stores - they must think everyone likes to dress like a teenager because that's the clothes they have in their stores.

I also have had luck at Sears and Sears Womens online as well as Just My Size.

I forgot to add that Macy's has the best women's department. I usually don't like to go into dept. stores because they're horrid (could they hide the women's dept. any further back into the store?). Macy's carries nice name brands (Liz, Tommy, Ralph) as well as their own line which is very nice and always on sale.
