Hi all, going to WDW for the first time in may. Comfort is my idea of fun. Any suggestions on what to wear will be greatly appreciated. Will be in WDW 5/24-6/1. :confused3

COMFORTABLE SHOES FOR SURE, WOULNDNT WEAR NEW ONES BUT THE MOST COMFORTABLE SHOES YOU NOW HAVE! DO BRING AT LEAST ONE SWEATER THOUGH AS IT CAN GET A LITTLE CHILLY IN THE RESTAURANTS WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING. GOT CAUGHT IN THE RAIN ONCE AND WHEN WE WENT IN TO DINE WE WERE SOAKING WET AND IT WAS VERY CHILLY TILL WE DRIED OUT. LOL! GUESS THEN I SHOULD SUGEST A RAIN PONCHO JUST IN CASE! A BAGPACK IS A GOOD IDEA TO CARRY WHEN YOU ARE VISITING THE PARKS DONT FORGET TO PUT THE RAIN GEAR IN IT!:yay:

I'm a Pooh sized BWW also going in May and am all for comfort. I figure I'll never see most of these people again, so who cares. I always go to WDW every year in May, Sept, and Dec, so know May is going to be hot. I'll be there again May 9th-16th and will be wearing my Teva Mush flip flops, shorts, capris, tank tops, t shirts, and very little make up. I'll have a small Very Bradley back pack or an small Overland Donner Placer bag. I promise you will be seeing people bigger than you, who will be dressed in all manner of styles. Wear whatever feels the most comfortable and the coolest. People won't be looking at you, although they may be looking at that idiot wearing a short skirt, skin tight tank top that she's falling out of, and those ridiculously high heels that she's tottering on. As long as you don't look like that, no one will even notice you.:rotfl::rotfl: As the previous poster said, be sure to wear the most comfortable shoes you have. You will be doing MUCH more walking than you are used to. Your feet will be tired, hot, aching, and maybe swollen every night. If your feet do have a tendency to swell, you might want to ask your doctor for some Lasix to take as needed. I swear the only time my feet ever swell is at Disney. Then they feel like they're about to pop. I always take Lasix down there.

Oh one more thing, be sure to carry some Body Glide to use on any areas that might chafe or blister (upper inner thighs, under breasts, under belly folds, between the big and first toe if you wear flip flops, top of feet, etc). Body glide is definitely a life saver down there. Also be sure to carry plenty of high spf sunscreen and use it religiously. Florida sun is brutal.

sold in the feminine product department with the creams. It works great and is easy to carry if you need to reapply. It is not sticky and I use it for my son to alleviate any wet bathing suit rashes.

Last year, the nearby Walmart had some Disney plus sized T-shirts at reasonable prices. My sister-in-law wears her husband's moisture wicking Tshirts and shorts. She looks cute because she is the sporty type. She likes the mens shorts/tshirts better because they are longer. She had the Nike and Underarmour stuff but I have seen the moisture wicking material done in less expensive brands. Some ladies wear those flowy skirts and look very cool and comfortable. Have a wonderful trip!!:goodvibes

Body glide and moleskin! Body glide will help with the chaffing. I got mine at Academy sports store and moleskin will help prevent blisters. I got that at walmart. Have a great trip!

Another BBW here. :flower3:

When we did WDW in September of 2007, I found that the name of the game was comfort. Several thing I brought with me never got worn, cause they were really cute, but just not as comfortable! When it was hot, I didn't want anything to be tight or restrictive.

One of my favorite things to wear was my divided skirt. It was just below knee-length, loose and kind of flow-y, and made of a slightly thicker T-shirt material. It was navy blue and matched a lot of my shirts. I think it originally may have came from Roaman's, but I found it on eBay. I also loved my yoga-shorts. I found them at WalMart, they are styled like yoga pants (knit, slightly drop-waisted) but end just above the knee. I got a couple in different colors, and they were very comfy. I also had a couple of pairs of knit shorts - NOT tight, and longish - kind of bermuda length. I do NOT do short-shorts. I had T-shirts and tank tops (tunic length) that matched all of the different colors, and that's what I wore the whole time I was there. Yes, my upper arms were not the most attractive in tank tops, but dang it, it was HOT.

I also packed a couple of dress-ey outfits. We had some nice dinner reservations, and it was good to get out of the casual park clothes. I took a couple of broomstick style skirts, and one long, A-line style knit dress with palm trees embroidered on it.

As for shoes, I wore nothing but my crocs. I am a croc addict, and I swear by them. My feet were usually comfy - I don't think ANY shoes can stop your feet from hurting after 10 hours trekking through the parks - and I never once had blisters. Just don't take new shoes, make sure your feet are well accustomed to whatever you take.

Finally, plan well with personal supplies like deodorant, moleskin, body glide, advil, etc. Although you can buy most things at WDW, it is horribly much more spendy. Be sure you pack enough.

Ok, one more thing. And this may be TMI. So consider yourself forewarned, gentle readers.
You know how sometimes we BBW ladies end up with a nasty little fungal infection in our creases when it is hot and damp? Red, weepy, and ouchie? My Dr told me that it is basically the same infection as athlete's foot and jock itch. You can buy the same cream that ladies buy for a yeast infection, or - much cheaper - you can go to the foot care aisle in WalMart and buy a tube of generic athlete's foot cream. Much cheaper. :) I never travel without it anymore, cause it doesn't happen very often, but BOY when it does you want relief and you want it NOW.

have fun on your trip!

My arms are not the most attractive but this is one time I don't care, this is an expensice trip and I intend to be comfy and enjoy every moment:)

I wore capris almost every day on my last trip. I hate sitting on rides and feeling my skin stick to the seat. I also wear dressier capris and sandals for dinners. At the parks I wear my brooks running shoes. They are the most comfortable shoes in creation. They are light and mesh so they breathe.

Our family group had matching t-shirts on many days so that took care of my tops. I would suggest sunglasses and a hat. And don't forget the sunscreen. The spray on , sweatproof kind is the best.

25 days and counting!:yay: This will be our second trip with children, DS11, DS10 and DD4 (first time.)
Based on experience, I would strongly recommend Bodyglide or something similar as a preventive, moleskin, sunscreen and comfy shoes.

Have a great trip!

Sport sandals are great; they let your feet breathe and you can trudge right through the puddles. Liberally slather your feet in Body Glide and you'll do great.

I just got back a couple of days ago, and I bought a ripstop skort from Lands End just for the parks. It was GREAT. Cool and comfy, and with Body Glide, no ride-up issues, either. They are a bit pricey at just under $40, but worth it. I'm buying another as soon as I get another free shipping code.

I find woven shirts are much better than knit ones for parks, unless it is wicking knit. They dry faster and cling less. I've found that, of all places, KMart often has really nice cotton camp shirts that are well-cut and inexpensive.

Body Glide can be had at a good price from drugstore.com, btw.

Here is just a bit advice, because legs and feet will be tired after all that walking, buy some foot cream/body lotion with mint in it. I can't remember what I use, but know Dr.Scholl (sp) has an amazing foot line including soaks, masks and lotions for those tired and sore limbs. Makes me feel amazing, plus the smell will waken your senses. Oh, and it's not all that expensive either. I know Walmart sells some off brands as well as the Dr.Sholl's.

slightly OT - does body glide help prevent your shorts from riding? I am dreading the "chub rub" or whatever :rotfl: and having to constantly un-bunching my shorts. Or, should I just go with a knee length short?

I'm not pooh-sized (more like chubby piglet-sized! LOL!!) and I hate when my shorts ride up and bunch. I've seen them ride up on the skinny gals too, so it's not just us! I've given up on anything less than just above the knee length for shorts. If I go a little shorter, I just go with a skirt. I have some really cute skirts that are made of knits and sweatshirt material and I just wear them with a t-shirt. I get more chub rub with shorts than I ever do with skirts!

LOL, yeah me too! I'm not much of a skirt person, so I'll look for the longer shorts and hope... :thumbsup2

I assumed that BBW meant Big Bad Wife!

Depending on the situation I have been known to be both!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

It also helps to have Icy Hot or a Ben Gay type product & use it as you go during the day to keep your muscles loose & limber! Enjoy your trip! :dance3:
