Pooh sized at Disney

I am 5'7 and about 280. I am a pooh sized lady. I have been to disney and know that most rides are my size friendly but there are a few I have been avoiding since I can't find much information about being larger and these rides. I really want to go on rockin' roller coaster, Expedition Everest and the dinosaur ride. Are there any rides you suggest avoiding if you are pooh sized?

Thanks in advance!!!

You should have no problems on any of these. I probably a bit bigger than you and the only thing I wont go on again is 7D. I fit, but the lap bar beat my knees up too much. That is a body proportion issue more than anything as I tend to carry weight in my legs

Sometimes it can be hard to find the slot where you fasten the seat belt if you've got a big gut or caboose. A fantastic recommendation which I've heard is to pull the seat belt all the way out while standing BEFORE you sit down. Gives you more "give" to work with if you can't see the slot while seated.

Yup. Very poorly designed lap bar system on 7DMT.
I don't know what Disney was thinking.
It's designed unlike any of the rest of their roomy, accomodating restraint systems.

There is a thread dedicated to Pooh sized people on the boards. Just put it in the search. It has loads of helpful advice.

I'm about your size (a bit bigger) and I was able to do all of those easily. The only one I was squished on was 7D Mine Train, but it was bearable for the few minutes it lasted.

Those will be no problem. I am 5'8" and about 260 and Mine Train I can ride but it kills my knees.

I heard a rumor that they were suppose to be R bars but due to a knee jerk reaction about possible changes to safety regulations they changed it to the U bar with out realizing the U bar design up a lot of space out making it uncomfortable for a lot (I'm 5'6" and 175lbs and feel like it is squeezing me).

You will be fine. My dh is very Pooh sized (XXXL) and he is fine at Disney.
If you do a search on my user name, I just posted a thread about our trip to Disney and included pictures.
I posted a link to my shutterfly book and it includes pictures of my dh on EE and Dinosaur (Disney December 26-January 1 under js)
so you can get an idea of his size and see him sitting in the seats.

You would have heard of it again if you had read Post #2 in this thread.

Also on Rock'n Rollercoaster, ask for a odd # car. Way more room, I am 6'7 and I got seated in an even # one and I literally could not sit all the way down because my legs were folded up underneath me, the harness that pulls down over your head only clicked once, I was scared, CM said your fine, next time ask for a odd # car. Off we go, I ride again, so much better and so much more room in the odd # cars.

Disney is the most size-friendly theme park resort imaginable, on both coasts. Far friendlier than either Six Flags or Universal. Very tall people with long legs are usually the folks with problems squeezing into ride vehicles or seats. Plus-sized people (and I'm one) for the most part have a hard time with restraints that squeeze the legs together (Everest, 7DMT) more than anything else, and even there there is lots of wiggle room and most people don't have a problem. Best tip is given above, pull any seatbelt all the way out before you sit down. Other than that, you'll feel very welcome at Disney.

There's also an awesome, empowering, but slightly older blog post concerning plus-sized riders and MK:

You will be fine on all of them. 7dmt is short and I am about the same size and had no issue. I grew up at cedar point and never found any large thrill ride to be "comfortable" so maybe my opinion on 7dmt is skewed. It does squeeze but it is a short ride. Go for it! WDW has become our favorite place because the rides are so accommodating to every size and gentle enough for kids and grandparents.

Just to keep these things clear...

Everest's restraints (lap bars) do not squeeze your legs together.
Very comfortable design.

Much different than 7DMT with the double-bar that forces guests legs tightly together.
Hideous design, even for most regular-sized folks.

Those 3 are just fine for you.
Plenty of room.
LONG seat belts on Dinosaur.
First, pull the belt WAY out, then sit and buckle it.
The others' lap or overhead bars can accommodate larger bodies, too.

Relax! Enjoy!

Personally, I like to turn and find the buckle and click it into place BEFORE I sit all the way down or back. Easier to see it than feel for it... and most of those belts are ridiculously long.
