SORRY for repeating something that has been gone over a million times!! I have been stalking these questions for about six months and had hoped to lose at least 20 lbs before we left, but since we're leaving next friday, I don't think it's going to happen.

From the threads that I have read, I think I'll make it on the rides, but can someone please answer specifically about me? I'm in panic mode!!!

5'3" 200lbs. I usually squeeze into a 16, but I can breath when I wear size 18. Carry a lot in my stomach, not too much in my chest.

Will I need the modified seats? Going with 3 skinny teenagers and a "normal" sized husband, so I don't want to be the only one holding us up.

MANY thanks in advance to anyone that takes the time to respond to this. :worship:

You should fit in the modified seats with no problems. I'm actually bigger than you and as long as I get a modified seat (the end seats) I fit with room to spare. :)

At Disney...guests are Pooh sized but at Universal...they are Shrek sized. ;)

I used to weigh a little more than you, but I'm a bit taller too (similar shape - bigger belly and thighs, small on top). I could squeeze into the usual seats, but I felt more comfortable in the modified seating.

When I went to USO for the first time, I was with someone who did need the modified seating - we didn't need to wait long at all. Just tell the seating attendant, and they will send you to the correct seating. We hardly had to wait any longer than we would have done for the 'nomal' seats.

You're going to have a great time!

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to it. Just praying my Fiona figure doesn't put a damper on things. I'm actually more worried that my family will feel bad than me missing the rides! Oh well, at least I'm pretty confident that the modified seats will work.

Thanks again!!

Almost all of the rides that have modified seats have them on every car. For example, with Dragon Challenge, two or maybe even three rows have a seat or two that are modified. You can easily tell which rows they are becuase they have a sign hanging down from it. Anybody can use these seats, so you should not have to wait any longer than normal.

As far as HP goes, EVERY car has modified seats. The car hold four people. The two outside seats (the far left and far right) are modified. Again, there should be no extra wait for these, since every car has them and just like Dragon Challenge, anybody can sit in them.

I do not know about the Rip Ride Rockit. While I enjoy the ride, the big bulky bar is very tight for people like us with a bigger belly. I can fit, but it is a tight squeeze and I do not require the modified seats at HP. So, you might want to ask about them on Rip Ride Rockit. However, it is nice to be squeezed in when you are going up that lift hill. I am a big thrills type of person, but that lift hill scares me to death. I would not want that lap bar to be loose when going up that hill for fear of slipping out.

Rockit's modified seats are in row 3. Hulk and Dragon Challenge are rows 3 & 6 (one per row, iirc). Forbidden Journey is the outside seats. Ripsaw Falls is tricky; do your best to SLIDE into the seats (think of how you slide down a playground slide. That's the best method. Also, try to sit in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th seat). Doctor Doom does not have any modified seats. ROTM is best in row 3 or 4.

I am glad to hear that Rockit has modified seats in row 3. I will have to remember that.

Go point bringing up Ripsaw as well. I used to love that ride before they added those stupid lap bars. I mean, its a log flume ride, they have them all over the world. Why do they need lapbars? To make it even worse they go and add lapbars without changing or removing a seat. So know you have a 5 person log WITH a lapbar system and really big back rests between the seats making it really hard to get in and out of and not to mention feeling cramped into a log. Getting in is not that bad. However, getting out is a whole different story! Normally I would have a "water" afternoon where I would ride Popeye and Ripsaw for 3 or 4 hours (about 10 times each with express). Now, its a rare overall trip when I ride it more than once during a 4 (or more) day visit.

I'm about your size and hold weight in butt/hip area and I was able to ride everything in a regular seat. I would say try the sample seats out front first and then you'll know if you need modified ones. Also I rode FJ journey next to a very large guy and he rode in a regular middle seat with no problem :thumbsup2 Not sure if this was said but the outer seats on FJ are a little roomier.

Have a great time!

I am glad I saw this thread. MY DH is 6'1" tall and weighs around 250. He carries his weight in his belly. I have a feeling he will need a modified seat.

Great thread. I am 6'4" and hover around the 350lb mark. At WDW, I have no problems at all, except for a couple of rides due to my height (IE space mountain). I was wondering if the same would hold true for Universal. For these modified seats, does the CM (not sure what the US employee tile is) look at you and seat you where they think it would be best or do you have to ask?

All of the questionable rides have test seats out the front. If you need to use a modified seat, ask the attendant at the test seats which row you will need. Then make sure you line up for that specific row.

I am 5'6"ish, weigh about 220lbs and wear a size 18; I was able to ride all the rides. The modified seats where a bit more roomy and I would use them if they were available but I could use a regular seat.

My mom is 5'2", 230 pounds and wears a size 22. She was able to ride the rides taking advantage of the modified seating.

I don't think you are going to have any issue.

When you ride Hulk, you will need to tell them you need the "big boy" seat...as I call them...but on Dragon Challenge, you can pick which row you want. Make sure you pick either row three or six as DM stated. If someone is in that seat, ask them to switch seats with you. I've never had an issue on either attraction.

Great info...This is why I love WDW, everything is so accomodating to a wide variety of guests. Hoping US/IOA/SW is the same. That is what turned me off of our local "theme parks", all the seats are tiny and are build for folks that are "average size" at best...and even then it's a little tight...

Well...just keep in mind the vast majority of Disney's ride are pretty staid compared to other parks but that's Disney's business model...they would rather go after families and their rides show it. Don't sell your local parks short...there are safety reasons for some rides having smaller seats but it is a drag when you can't ride something.

Nah, I will always sell our local parks short. ;) Majority of the rides are "kiddie" size and are no better that traveling carnival rides. 90%+ of the parks haven't changed in the past two decades..at least they didn't change for the better anyway...:headache:

What is this local park that only has kiddie sized ride seats?

"Kiddie" size is just a generic term for smallish seats. Think the rides you see at a traveling carnival because that pretty much the thrill of the rides we have around here because most are the same rides. When you go to a park and all the rides are "mobile" except for a few, that's not too impressive. Maybe all the seats are as small as I remember, maybe I am just wrote them off because they haven't made and real positive changes or upgrades in 20 years...wait, wasn't this thread about the sixe of rides @ IOA/US? :rolleyes1

They are Funtown USA and Palace Playland. And don't even get me started on the old, rusted, poorly kept rides at York's Wild Animal Kingdom amusement park...Ugh! We are probably going there once this year, I hope they finally updated some of the "attractions".
