I CAN'T BELIEVE DISNEY WOULD BUY OUT (miazachi... i can't spell his name)

I HATE this

he was the director for:
Spirited Away
Howl's Moving Castle
Castle in the Sky
Princess Mononoke
and many others

I don't see what the problem is. Ponyo looks like a cute movie.

This thread lacks overall explanation and if you can't spelll someone's name, google it, copy and paste.

Anyways, Hilary doesn't care. Although it's nice that they have anime under their belts too.

I'm mad that they buy out so much stuff, but the point is to talk about the movie

::yes::

That's why I can't see a problem. XD

So, what exactly have Disney done?

Elin is with Hilary & Jaderz on this one.
On the S.S. I don't get it.

sorry josh. ):

I don't get the problem... Is it that Disney is distributing Japanese animated movies in the USA?

Disney's been in charge of English dubs since like Spirited Away, I think. I know Lasseter and Miyazaki are friends.

And they've been the english distributer for a while, also...

Nothing new, sorry.

I think the funniest Japanese movie released by Walt Disney Pictures is Pom Poko. Let's just say the main characters (I think racoons, or something similar) are anatomically correct, and the parts grow in size to use as weapons...

Hey, didn't he do "Kiki's Delivery Service"?

Random. Dx But, in all honesty, what's the problem?

i love hayao miyazaki (and i know how to spell his name.)

i don't see the problem considering SPIRITED AWAY was distributed by walt disney pictures in 2002, and even way back in 1998 Kiki's delivery service was produced by Buene Vista international. and even before that in 1972 Panda Go Panda was backed by walt disney productions.

hayao miyazaki was voted the most influential asian, and one of the most influential men in the world by time magazine, and he has more money than god. disney didn't BUY HIM OUT. he works with them because he knows its the way to get childrens videos to children in america, and he's been doing it since the 70s. so this thread is completely pointless.

I LOVE Miyazaki's movies.
All of them.
and Ponyo looks really cute!

I'm NOT trying to be rude.
In all honesty though i don't understand why everybody Hates when Disney "buys out" stuff.
Alot of his movies are distributed by Disney anyways.

disney didnt buy out ghibli.

"Tokuma is the parent company of Studio Ghibli, and it has provided the Walt Disney Company with the video rights to all of Ghibli's output that did not have previous international distribution, including the global, non-Japan distribution rights to Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. "

which means we can legally buy miyazaki movies here that have been translated legally into english. yay for us.
anyway...
im very excited for ponyo. i adore hayao miyazaki's movies. :3

I'm not one for anime usually. don't get me wrong, I do like a good animated movie, but Miyazaki's movies are the only ones I can ever really get into. Other than that, I prefer my animes to be a half hour long.
