LOL!! My daughters, ages 7 and almost 5, want one really badly! I'll probably get them each one. I wore them in the 70's as a child, and loved them. I still think they are cute!
Here the girls are using them as shirts Some of them look really cute when using over tanks & such. Me, didn't wear them in the 70's and won't be now either.

I think on someone older - it just looks silly then. (And - no offence to your girls - I don't feel the need to wear the same style as someone 20 years younger then me. heheh)
For me? Definitly NOT!! For DD (6) Absolutely!!! She loves them and they look adorable on her. As a matter of fact, I will be calling my mom later today to ask her for MY old ones that my grandmother made me when I was 6!!
My 12 year old daughter has a couple, and she looks really cute in them. Would I wear them, ....no- I think I am at that "post-poncho" age (unless of course it is a Mickey poncho-you never outgrow those!)
Originally posted by meeshi I don't see myself or my dd's getting ponchos anytime soon. Although I LOVED mine back in the 70's. Did anyone else wear them on their head and pretend they had long hair? Or was that just me and my sister?
YES!!! How funny...in fact, that's what I think of when I see them!! My mom is going to look for one of my home-made ones I had when I was little - she THINKS she may have it. Fingers crossed!
I don't really LOVE them, but both DD's - 8 and 10 - REALLY want one and they don't ask for much trendy stuff yet. Funny thing is we live in Texas and although we're having a mild summer, it's still like 90 degrees out. When I pick the girls up at school I see tons of little girls wearing them OUTSIDE! I told DD's I would get them in about a month or so...don't think they need them quite yet!!
I saw many, many girls wearing them in San Francisco and Southern California a few weeks back. DD looked at me and said "Don't let me go out of the house with one of those THINGS on me...they are gross!" When I told her I had a bunch of them when I was growing up and it was the fashion she said "I feel sorry for you!"
BTW...DD is 8 and most of the girls wearing them were about 12-25 years old.
