ponchos -- will your teens (or you) go with the latest trend?

I really like them. I remember my mom and granny making me several of them when I was a little girl. I definitely want one!

My dad brought me back one from A & F when he was in Vegas. I thought I would hate it but it actually looks great. It's very thin and goes off one shoulder. I get complimented on it all the time and it's the perfect thing to wear to the movies (I always freeze in the AC).
I really should give my dad more credit :D

I bought a Lime Green one a few weeks ago and love to wear it. My DD who is 8 liked it so much I got her one too.

I like them and think they're cute, but I know the minute I buy one it'll be "out"! :p I usually try not to fall into trends and stick with basic colors/styles that I can mix and match outfits. Going with the trends can get expensive!

I've been wearing my two for months... very cute if you get the right ones, some of them are ugly. I probably won't be wearing them much longer actually, they trend is fading.

::yes::

I have a pink one I got at T.J. Maxx for $15. It is very light, simple (no fringe), and cute. I wear a tank or strapless shirt under it. It's cute with jeans. :)

I ALMOST bought one from GAP for DD, but I couldn't justify the money. It is heavier, more a Fall/Winter one. It would be SO cute on her though. :)

My 6 year-old found one at Sears for $12 and wanted it, so I said yes. They seem shorter and more 'cutesy' than the one I had at her age.

I'm a 28 year old woman who wears a poncho. It's tan, it's crocheted, and it was $15. I can wear it with jeans or wear it to work. It keeps me warm in the cold AC, it's stylish, and will last me well into the fall. I don't feel like a granny, a hippy, or a child when I wear it.

JMO.

for the life of me I don't see the appeal of a poncho

if you say 'poncho' to me I think "bright yellow with mickey on the back"...not "cutesy sweater"

how do these even provide warmth?

i don't even think i'm coordinated enough to wear one...I'd get it stuck on the car door, light it in fire, get snagged on corners. heheh

I remember my first poncho. My Dad was out in San Francisco on business and brought me one home. I was about 8 at the time. It was probably my most cherished article of clothing EVER. :)

I saw a girl the other day with one on, she had the perfect "look" for the poncho. Sort of a modern day hippie girl. So cute. Made me feel about 100. :p

I have a red white and blue one that my grandmother crocheted for me in 1976.

Its a zig zag pattern with stripes and flag buttons!

I still have it!

I would probably look cute on my daughter, but certainly not me.

I saw some cute ones at Old Navy, which were very thin, and blanket type.

I still think of yellow and Mickey when I hear poncho though.

Can you say YEA!!!!!! That I am grateful for. My girls wear color now.

I didn't have a sweater poncho when I was young or did I??? Can't remember.

My girls took one look at them and said YUCK...but I know for a fact that older dd would love one because she is always chilled. She loves her "hoodies".

I'll skip the ponchos, even though I loved mine as a kid.

I'm waiting for the 70s to be over and the 80s to be back in vogue! High top sneakers, pants tucked into your color-coordinated socks, big hair, big belts, tacky earrings, off-the-shoulder shirts.

Ha ha ha!

I've seen them around for quite some time, and honestly I haven't seen one person who I thought looked really good in them. Definitely not my style though, so I wouldn't buy one no matter how good I looked in it anyway ;)

9 yr old DD just got 2 from Limited too. A pink one (has always been her favorite color) and a multi colored one. Some are ugly, but these two are precious. I had one at about the same age in the 70's! ::yes::

My 16 year old DD just said the other day that she does NOT like them. I remember them from the 70's - I didn't like them back then.

high top converse "chuck taylors - "In"
off-the-shoulder-shirts - "In"

2 out of your 5 are in. hehehe

I had them the first couple times they were around late 50's early 60's AND the 70's! I do NOT care to do that again! I don't think they do anything good for anyone!

I've seen some really cute ones. Some people look adorable in them! I don't think I could pull it off though!!!

I don't see myself or my dd's getting ponchos anytime soon. Although I LOVED mine back in the 70's. Did anyone else wear them on their head and pretend they had long hair? Or was that just me and my sister?

I have no desire to wear a poncho. To the best of my knowledge none of my neices do either. A few of BF's neices like them, but other than that, I don't know anyone who does.

They are kind of cool, but I think you have to have a certain body type to pull it off, and that body type is one I gave up on having ages ago... On my they would just look frumpy and weird.
