so my 12 year old is reading Cosmo Girl or YM or Teen Vogue or something like that, and she sees all the new ponchos and just says "ugh!" she's my fashionista but she has no desire to buy one.

and then she looks at me and says "you wore those things back in the 70's. what on earth were you thinking?" oy.

I noticed them in the magazines too, just asked my 12yo DD she wants one. I think I'll pass. BTDT

The only poncho I'll be wearing will be my rain poncho in WDW if needed.

yikes, I'm glad I have boys.....just trying dress a little girl sounds like a nightmare! :earseek:

I think they are cute! And my 5 year old diva had to have one and I bought her one!;)

My 16 yr. old wants me to knit one for her. There's not much to it, so I'll probably do it. I still have a 'granny square' poncho I crocheted for myself over 25 years ago. I made it using any scraps of yarn I had, so it's quite colorful. My daughter tried it on but decided it was a bit too colorful for her taste.

I saw them too and all I can say is ewwwwwww -- I hated them when they were in for my generation.

I wore them in my heyday.

My 18 yr. old bought a couple of them in the Spring. She looks adorable in them and even the guys were commenting on how cute she looked in them.:D

Good Lord - I had about a dozen homemade crocheted ponchos circa 1972. I almost passed out when I saw some at Target.

A whole new generation of Marcia Bradys. :earseek:

My 15 year old thinks they're awful.:p

My 16 yr old bought one, but it is much thinner and airier (meaning not much to it) then what I remeber wearing back in the day. She wears it over a little cami type t-shirt and looks cute in it. She says it's comfy, so as long as I'm not paying for it she can have it.

my 9 yr old, who loves looking good, wanted to try it on - she said it was like wrapping an old lady blanket around you. Not a good thing.

I can't stand them. What's next on the comeback - pleather red jackets with multiple zippers?

Well, I have two and my daughter has two. Plus, I'm totally into the pink thing, as well.

My dd is 12.

LOL, Kendra. my older dd -- she's 13 1/2 -- was asked to put something in a time capsule at school.

she chose a photo of her favorite pocketbook. "because it's pink, and I was the first girl at school to have a pink one!" she's in all her glory since pink became popular. younger dd -- who used to say she hated pink -- has been adding quite a bit of that color to her wardrobe.

LOL!
My 7 yr old son wants Yu-gi-oh, Pokemon, and Spiderman t-shirts. . .I much prefer dressing my two girls!

I don't have any sons, so I've got nothing to compare to. but girls can make you crazy.

I think the ponchos are unbelievably ugly. I'm definitely not getting one.

If I find one at the thrift store, I might buy it. But I won't buy a new one..I'm too cheap for that. I do think they are cute though.:p

Now if only capes would come back into style..I'd have it made. I LOVE capes!

I used to have an off-white crocheted one in the 70's and thought i was way cool.:p

I had a bright yellow one that one of my mom's friends crocheted for me when I was a small child. I wonder what happened to it?

I've been wearing my two for months... very cute if you get the right ones, some of them are ugly. I probably won't be wearing them much longer actually, they trend is fading.
