Ponchos on rides

Yes you can wear them on rides like Kali and Splash..I don't see the point since the reason for riding is to get wet, but to each their own. Some rides you're asked to remove them such as indoor rides if you're wearing a poncho because it's raining outside

Yep. I can see wanting to ride Splash because there actually is a lot to "see" before the big drop, and it's a neat ride. But Kali is nothing but a ride designed to get you wet...so I don't see the reason for a poncho. I've seen people wear them on Pirates, which always makes me scratch my head.

I wear a poncho on Kali, Splash and Pirates. I hate getting wet (unless I'm in a bathing suit and at a pool or water park and even then, honestly, I'm not a huge fan). My family wants to go on these rides and I want to spend time with them, so this is my compromise. I enjoy watching my DS10 crack up after getting drenched on Splash and Kali, but, I, myself, do not want to get wet! There's a reason for the poncho.

FWIW, i've noticed that it depends on the CM. Some of them don't make you remove them, while other's do.

I hate getting wet - so I wear them on the rides. Pirates is not bad enough to bother. I like Splash but still wish there was no water or big drop. Kali is only about wet - even if there was something to look at you'd be too busy getting drenched to notice.

Splash is one of my favorite rides in or out of WDW!! That being said, I hate wearing wet clothes, even if it's 95degrees and humid. It just feels yucky!

I love Splash, so much. There is so much to see and experience on this ride, we like to go on it again and again. A poncho is a must for me and it has to keep my rear end dry as well, so I bring a good poncho from home.

When the kids were younger they loved Kali, so that meant hubby and I go on Kali too. A poncho for me on Kali is a must.

I actually use a poncho on Kali and still get wet but not drenched, still funny.

Yes, on Kali, a poncho can be the difference in getting kinda wet and getting drenched head to toe. I usually carry a disposable poncho, and I will use it on rides like that, mostly to have something to sit on and cover my shorts and the things in my pockets. I'm not so worried about my shirt getting wet, but being soaked through on the lower-half becomes really unpleasant really fast.

We rode them on Kali! I like to get splashed on my face, arms and lower legs. I do NOT like to have undies, shorts, bra, shirt, socks and shoes glued to my body causing chaffing and making me miserable. (And by the way, wearing a poncho can help but doesn't always totally prevent this.) People will look at you funny but when you get off and you're appropriately wet and they're miserably wet it often "clicks" for them.

Three tips:
*People often suggest getting the really cheap throw away ones rather than using the ones you keep. If you go for disposable make sure they're long enough to tuck it under you and totally cover your back side and upper part of your legs. If it's a short poncho it doesn't do much good.
*Once DH got off the ride, the hood shifted, and a bunch of water ran down his back. He didn't wear the hood during the ride (we never do) so the hood had acted like a big cup and filled with water! So now we make sure the hood is kinda poofed out or is flat so it can't hold water.
*If you're wearing tennis shoes pack some cheap/lightweight flip flops and change into them before you get on the ride. Sopping wet tennis shoes are no fun! :upsidedow

My family is in the poncho group for Splash Mountain. You typically do not get **that** wet, but I really do not want to walk around with wet clothes and shoes. We grab some of the emergency ponchos from Target and put them on while in line!

Yes.
Make sure you have it on prior to getting in the ride vehicle.
I know some people think the only reason for a water ride is to get wet but to that I say nope definitely not.
There is a huge storyline behind Splash Mountain with songs and animatronics plus the drops. I enjoy all that but prefer to not get wet. I just don't like being wet.
