Ponchos on Grizzly River Run???

Bumping this up.

I went on Grizzly yesterday, single rider put in with a fun family of 5. They were so happy, even though they had been on vacation since the 12th!!! They had forgotten their ponchos after doing Universal the day before (there's a flume ride there with an 85 foot drop?????? ), and were gearing themselves up to be drenched.

Meanwhile I sat there with my poncho.

It was great fun, and they did indeed get soaked, but all I got was a dribble of (icy cold) water down my back b/c I didn't have the hood on on the first drop.

Those lockers are brilliant! 2 hours of free storage!


And my new favorite activity at DLR, other than people watching in NOS, is watching GRR riders get soaked by the geyser...I think I spent a total of 40 minutes just watching raft after raft get it. There seems to be a timer on when the geyser goes, but since the rafts aren't really timed since they are floating, it varies as to what raft gets it.


By the way, going down the "flume" while your raft is spinning is an experience. I don't remember if it happened on my first two rides (in the dark so context is gone), but wowie wow wow that's an amazing feeling!

Phew... I'm so glad I came accross this. 06 was the first year I have been to DLR since CA opened and my DD was only 2, so I missed out on a lot of bigger rides. I definitely plan on getting to as many of them as I can this time since I'll be there with two other adults and their kids and we can all take turns with the kids so the adults can have some extra fun. I would have gone on GRR w/o a second thought and my luck I would be the one soaked since I HATE being in wet clothes. I need to get to the 98 cent store asap!!!

HAHA! I was briefly scanning the boards and I saw this thread and I thought it said "Pocahontas on the Grizzly river run"

I was gonna start shouting the song by singing "JUST AROUND THE RIVER BEND"

Her I've never seen on a ride. During our honeymoon Alice and the Mad Hatter came wandering into the teacups and rode with a little girl who looked like she'd died and gone to heaven. It was so cute!
