i go to my local WM and stock up on ponchos when they are two for a dollar. They are not as sturdy as the ones sold at the park but they are folded up into a small package that fits nicely in the corner of my small vacation purse.
Have you ever noticed that if you shlep ponchos to the park it will NOT rain?
They are near to impossible to fold back up again but hey, for fifty cents I can toss it and go after I no longer need it.
Not looking exactly like everyone else in the park on a rainy day is priceless.
We have started buying the dollar ones also, I put a sandwich size ziplock bag in in purse and the dollar ones easily fold to fit into it.
We find it easier to keep track of our kids if they are wearing something other than yellow!
Just a tip......if you will be there with a stroller, take a poncho for the stroller. Once it stops raining, the last thing you want is for your dry child to now sit on a wet stroller. When your child gets out of the stroller to go on a ride or go into an attraction, cover it up.
