It is AMAZING what archaeologists are uncovering in these two settlements, from tools to building sites, frescos, fountains, so many things preserved beautifully... it's like a window back in time! Even pots of paint and loaves of bread, for goodness' sake!

I agree. They are such detailed time capsules of Roman life in 79AD. I have been interested in the sites since I was around 12-13 years old, and the more they find, the more fascinating it becomes. Learning about them is what introduced me to archaeology as a science.

I am also pretty obsessed with them. We were able to catch the traveling exhibit in Florida a few years back. It would be the coolest thing to get to be working on the site.
