You're probably right Sam, I'm sure there are tons of weddings right now. I'm probably just a little antsy to get something booked too:rotfl: Hopefully I'll have some pics of me in the dress to post!:cool1:

So, as many of you know, Saturday at 10 am is my appointment for the Romona trunk show where I very possibly will become the proud owner of my dream dress:cool1: That said I have decided that I need to continue the quest for the more affordable version and since there are just a few days I have decided to step up the efforts. Today I went to 2 bridal stores, tomorrow I have appointments at another 2 bridal stores, and then one more appointment at yet a different bridal store on Thursday night!

Today's adventure was very non-productive, in fact I didn't even physically try on any gowns:sad2: I went to the first store and the sales lady was very nice- she pulled 4 gowns that she thought I might like but I had actually tried all of them on before at other shops:rotfl: I rummaged through the racks but she was right those were basically the only ones that were anything remotely similar to the look I want. We got to talking about the Romona dress and she said she would totally go for it:rotfl2:- not very good sales tactic but she was nice. She said it sounds like I've tried on enough gowns to know:lmao: but sent me over to their other store because they carry different gowns. I rumaged through the racks there but also didn't see anything that I really was interested in so I headed home:confused:

So tomorrow I am off to 2 more bridal stores and Bree (one of my co-workers) is going with me... a little wierd- we're friends at work but haven't really hung out outside of work and wedding dress shopping is something you usually do with someone you're close with:confused: I haven't lived in Minnesota that long and don't have many good friends here yet- my one good friend here, Marcela (who I went dress shopping with before) is overseas for a few months so that option was out. I was just going to go by myself, like I did today, but my co-worker thought that was just horrible and insisted on coming along:laughing: So I'm sure we'll have fun, she a hoot:dance3:! Maybe I'll actually put on a dress and hopefully they'll let me take pictures!:woohoo:

Oooh I'm excietd about the dress trying on! I'm also so happy you have booked Misty - as now I can book Randy! I was little worried I was booking too early but since were getting married within a week of each other I figure its ok  Randy says he can swap my date/time nearer the time if we dont get our preferred date/time anyway?:)

:lmao:You are too funny! I think you're the closest I have to a wedding twin right now- we'll have to keep each other on schedule (or in this case ahead of schedule:rotfl2:) I was thinking it was a bit early to book but then decided I'd be really broken hearted if I ended up not being able to get her- she also said she would switch if I couldn't get my date/time so I figured I'd just go for it.:thumbsup2
Good luck on your hunt!!!:cheer2:

Let us know how today goes!

Thanks Katie! I need a good cheerleader because this dress hunting is exhausting!

So the hunt continues... I'm exhausted after hours of dress shopping so this will be a quick update because I have to go to a conference tomorrow at 8 am. Doesn't sound so bad but when you work nights (7pm-7am) when you have to be somewhere at 8 am and it's the time you usually go to bed it really messes you up:eek:

So we went to 2 bridal stores today. The first bridal store we went to was great. The sales clerk was super nice, they had a good selection, it wasn't crowded. I probably tried on 15-20 dresses and there were a couple dresses that we thought were a maybe- once again I like them but don't love them. They won't let you take pictures but at the end it was really nice because they give you a card with the designer of the dress, the style number, and the website so you can look at the dress online to help you decide. (this will seem nicer after I tell you about the other store).

So we got something to eat and then headed to the other bridal store. We walked in and it was crowded:scared1: I had called ahead and they said I wouldn't need an appt. But then they didn't really have anyone to wait on us and at first I didn't even think they had an open dressing room. The lady at the desk checked with a few sales clerks and they said all their rooms were full... so finally she said "we'll just put you in here" and all I could think that she was going to have us stashed in a room in the middle of a rack of dresses like at the other place.... but then she led us down a hall to this HUGE dressing room. She said they usually use the room when brides bring all of their extended family in:rotfl: but that it would be nice and quiet back there for us.

Anyways we didn't really have a set sales lady but I think I may prefer it that way:lmao: and the lady at the counter checked on us. They had a huge selection here and we started trying on. Once again probably tried on 20-30 dresses here and got 2 maybe's but nothing that I love. The kicker was at the end I asked who the designers were of the 2 dresses (I had read online that this place won't tell you the designer til you buy the dress) and she said "Dreams"- which I'm pretty sure is a lie because I'm 99.9% positive that the one dress is a Maggie. I said "Wow out of all those dresses I picked 2 that are by the same designer?!?" and the lady said "Well that must mean you have good taste"- my thought was "that or you're lying"- but I kept my mouth shut. Don't know why but that really annoyed me... I mean they won't let you take pics of the dress which I also think is stupid but to not even tell you the designer so you can look at it online is absolutely RIDICULOUS!

So in the end it's nice to know that there are a few other options out there but I think that LOVING my dress is a must for me. I have one more shop to go to tomorrow night and then it's the trunk show! I'll try to post some pics of the "maybe" dresses tomorrow after I search them off the websites!

I totally understand that night/day thing. I worked nights for awhile...rough!

I'd be cautious about the shop that wouldn't tell you who the designer was of the dress. There was something about this in the Bridal Bargains book and how they do this so that you can't look find the actual price (at least I think that was it...I'll have to look again for exact info but I'm certain that this is what they were talking about)

Good luck in your dress hunt! i'm still rooting for the trunk show dress!!! :dance3:

Adelia-I hate that about your experience in the one store. That is so ridiculous and bad salesmanship! And frankly, when you're buying quite possibly the most expensive piece of clothing you'll ever own, you'd think they have perfected customer service!

Completely agree :thumbsup2 Good luck wedding twin with the rest of your hunt ;)

I agree with heidi too. I'm sorry you're having such a hard time with dress shopping... it should be more fun than headache.

Well fingers crossed you'll have a better experience today!

Hi- I'm catching up on your PJ- WOW- that dress is gorgeous! I really love it!

Yay for booking Misty! We are using her too!! :) Congrats on things coming together- I know that is such a great feeling:)

I think it's totally dirty that they don't tell you designer... I read it in a review of the place online that they refused to tell this girl the designer so I just had to see if it was true... but then to LIE about it is so wrong. The prices didn't seem that bad but I guess I'll never be able to compare it:lmao:

I agree- seriously the nerve! I know they do it to try to make sure you don't buy a dress that you found there somewhere else but it's costing them to lose my business!

Completely agree :thumbsup2 Good luck wedding twin with the rest of your hunt ;)
Thanks! I need it! The hunt continues!!!

We still had a good time but I just wish I could find a dress I LOVE :lovestrucwith a nice price tag:laughing: I'm just too picky and have the bar set way high!

Thanks! I really do love that dress and I'm so excited about Misty!

So here are the "like" dresses from yesterday.

First store:
This was our "favorite" but then after leaving the store and reflecting on it we think we liked it best because it was only 1 size too big on me (all the rest were huge and required lots of clamps to even get an idea what it would look like:rotfl2:) So in the end I think I liked it because it fit not bc I like the dress:lmao:

moonlight2.jpg

This next dress I tried on in white. I really loved the front but the beading in the back hit me in a funny spot and wasn't very flattering... plus the material is pretty clingy and I worry about VPL (visible panty line:lmao:) I could always go comando:rotfl2:
MonCheri19101.jpg

This dress was really pretty on but the lace just isn't my style
Casablanca1942.jpg

Here's the back... really pretty

Second store- Even though they wouldn't give me the designers I still figured it out:rotfl:
This first one is a Maggie dress... I had seen it on the website before. This was Bree's favorite. I really liked it but wasn't sure about the bow in the front but think it could be removed
Maggie1.jpg

I really like the ruching in the back of this dress but the corset part is the problem- because I'm so short the lacing goes down past my butt:laughing: The dress was pretty close to my size and the alterations lady looked at it and said she could put a privacy panel in (so atleast you wouldn't see my undies:lmao:) but it still ends up looking funny because it just doesn't hit me in the right place:sad2: she said there was nothing they could do to shorten the body of the dress:guilty:
Maggie2.jpg

This is the other dress I liked there. I think it's my favorite but I still don't LOVE it. I like it but it's just not the look I had in mind:confused3 I think a big part of my hesitation is that it reminds me a little of my first wedding dress

I am off to the last bridal shop now but will let you know how it goes and then I'll post the dream dress pics for reference. Then I think we'll need to take a vote. I finally did get the pics of me in the Romona dress from my friend but they are HORRIBLE and do it no justice but I think I'll post them so you girls can get a better idea. So stay tuned!

hmmmm....I like the first one... if the third one fit right i'd like it.

If you do go commando... i'd worry about a draft! I've heard SP can be alittle breezy!:lmao:

Ooh! Can't wait to see what you pick! I'm pulling for the Ramona dress, since that seems to be what you are comparing everything against! :goodvibes

I can say with certainty that some stores will use the tactic of not telling you the designers name (or will just make something up) because the product is a Chinese knockoff. Just becareful of this.

:lmao:Yeah maybe if we were in the WP so there wouldn't be a draft:lmao:

Hmmm I never thought of that... a girl I know did buy her dress at that store and was very happy with everything. She said they did tell her the designer after she bought it (she said she didn't think to ask before:confused3) whatever they are up to is no good though:sad2:

So this last bridal store I went to was a good experience but still no dress that I love:love: It wasn't too crowded and the sales clerk was very nice. I tried on ~15 dresses and still nothing that I thought even came close to how I feel in the other dress. I guess they have a no picture policy but I asked really nice and she said since I was by myself I could take pics of my top 2 to "show my mom" (aka all the DISbrides:lmao:)

So here is the runner up dress to the Romona dress. It's really the only other thing that I actually really like but the problem is I don't feel like a bride in it. It's more affordable but I think it's still WAY over priced for something that basically looks like a sundress.
001-1.jpg

002-1.jpg

So my "runner up #2" I only picked because I thought overall shape of the dress was closest to the Romona dress. This one is by Nicole Miller. Things I don't like about this dress A) the material is super clingy and not flattering AT ALL- I would have to work out B)Only comes in ivory and don't really like this color on me C) still cost somewhere around $1400:sad2: I am just a horrible picky bridezilla when it comes to dresses

So here FINALLY are the pics of me in :love:THE RAMONA DRESS:love:...

HUGE DISCLAIMER
we were rushing to try to get these pics in the 2 seconds that the lady was out of the room so don't judge it too harshy because when it is pulled in correctly it really does look good. So use your imagination and tell me what you think!
DreamDress.jpg

This next one is really funny I'm leaning forward and sticking my butt out because I'm in the process of trying to pull the material in tight:rotfl: Once it's fitted I don't think it will look like a bubble but like it does in this pic:rotfl2:
DreamDress2.jpg

I've got it kinda pulled in but it's still not laying right
DreamDress3.jpg

And here's the bottom... I really wish we would have taken one second to straighten the train because it lays sooo pretty. I promise not to stand on my real dress:laughing:
DreamDress4.jpg

So if you haven't figured it out my minds pretty much set on buying the Romona dress at the trunk show on Saturday:banana::banana:. I'm just hoping they offer me some incredible deal but I think if I don't get it I will still be dreaming of it while I say my vows:headache: What do you ladies think?
