We have Poly booked for next July. The CR never did much for us. Never stayed there, but been there many times to visit. Anyways, saw my cousins this weekend who have stayed at both and they said hands down CR was better. They said Poly's room were old and musty. Granted, this was before the refurb. Now my wife is somewhat interested in CR.

Which would you pick and why?

Poly all the way. More interesting theming, better pool, and better location for monorail transportation to MK (only 1 stop before MK) and to EPCOT, since the TTC is next door.

The rooms ARE NOT old and musty. They are large and beautiful

I have stayed at both resorts since the renovations and have to vote for the Contemporary. We stayed in the Tower and I love that we don't have to walk outside to get to our rooms. It rained quite a bit during our Poly stay so that may have swayed my opinion....we were constantly having to get in the rain going to the arcade, to Captain Cooks, the restaurants, etc. My children also love looking over the railing to see all of the characters at Chef Mickey's!!

Comparing resorts is like arguing religion and politics , you are not going to change anyones minds just made them mad. Same here. Having said that and having been to both many times, we prefer the Poly. It is a very lush and relaxing resort with wonderful themeing all through the resort. Other have talked about the so called musty smell. This is infact the mulch that is used in great abundunce throughout the resort due to the tropical plants. The resort is just an eye popping resort and we have never been disappointed in it. The Contempory is also a very nice resort but it just has that big city glass and steel impersonnel feel to us. The convention center attached to it also gives us the feel of a big city and not a vacation resort. While we can see why many do prefer it, we prefer the Poly. Different strokes for different folks. That is why Disney has so many distinct resort, so they can appeal to all. Try them both, we have switched resorts midway thru our stays and its not the hassle you would think. Being close and both on the monorail, it would be very easy to do..smjj

Wow, glad to see that the Polynesian kept the ceiling fans! CR did away with theirs, along with most of their drawer space and closets. Oh yeah, they also did away with the shelf over the sink to lay out toiletries, now you have to put everything on the sink ledge (neat sinks by the way but strange too, flat rectangles kind of like trays, you can actually put stuff in the sink and it doesnt' get wet with the water on) or on a narrow ledge undeneath. We were huge CR fans before renovations but now I'd recommend the GF and Polynesian over it after our last stay.

I love them both, but overall the Polynesian would get my vote. Better dining choices, better pool, walk to TTC. CR has amazing MK views however.

IMO the Poly pool is better - theming, SLIDE, zero entry. Plus looking out from the pool you see MK while the Cont view is of the Lagoon and construction..... Right now there's a lot of construction in the common areas of Cont so grab and go and the like isn't up to par, don't know the schedule but by next year it should be finished? Poly's already gone thru that....

I voted for the Poly. The rooms there were so nice and the staff was good as well. I love the CR and thats its all in the same building like the WL though. I dont like all the construction going on over at the CR right now though. The pool is way cooler at the Poly but always PACKED.

I voted CR- we have had a room with the same view as whoever posted the castle picture. It's really spectacular!! I did like the Poly's monorail service and the kids loved the pool more. My older son keeps asking to go back to the Poly- we are booked for BC in Jan right now, but I have been tempted to try the Poly. Can't get any ressies for the CR.
The only thing about the Poly we didn't like was the outside walk-it rained quite a bit when we stayed there. For those of you who are Poly veterans-which is the best building to be in? Since we are going in Jan, I don't think it will be lots of rain and as far as the cooler weather- that's great.

Although I love them both, and will buy DVC as soon as they announce the Contemporary, I voted Poly. I stayed there this summer and you cannot beat it for beauty and relaxation. And, the Kona Cafe is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Disney. For my money you cannot go wrong at either.

I voted for the Polynesian. If you can't get a tower room with a view of the castle, to me the Contemporary is not worth it. To me it is a very cold hotel.

It's like comparing Pineapples to Concrete. The Poly always gives me a feeling of relaxation. At the Contemp. I get the feeling of "Let's go, we're late."

I do like Chef Mickey's and the ride through of the Contemp is cool.

I'd have to say CR. The view from the balcony is amazing. Plus I like everythign in one building - at the Poly I'd have to go outside to get to the main building to eat and shop.

At the CR, I get the feeling of still being inside the park, at the Poly, it's a great view of the castle and like your away at a resort!

I have 17 more sleeps and couldn't decide either...so...I am split staying at both for 5 days each !!! :woohoo: :woohoo:
