2yrs ago my husband and I took our two children for their first visit to WDW. We stayed in the concierge building at the Poly. Even though we thought the room was small, we enjoyed the atmosphere and convenient location. We are looking into again bringing the kids (now 11 and 9yrs old) to WDW on vacation this year. We are wondering if we should stay again at the Poly (which we very much enjoyed) or try perhaps the BC. We've heard so much about the wonderful pool at BC (but the kids thoroughly enjoyed the pool at the Poly) and the great location to Epcot. Has anyone out there with children been to both the Poly and the BC? What are your thoughts on which to pick this go around? Any pros or cons? Is the pool that much better at BC than the Poly? How about the rooms and atmosphere?

Thanks!

They are both great.

Your children 9 & 11 would really like pool at YC/BC.

We've stayed YC and BC and seem to always go back there. We could've stayed in the Poly('01) for less money but choose the YC. The Poly is where we stayed our first year and it was tremendous, but we like the pool and location of the YC/BC better.

Either way, you can't go wrong.

We have stayed at both the Poly and BC. My DS11 and DD3 loved SAB. My DD keeps asking when we are going to go back and stay at the"blue hotel." I think you and your boys will love BC. Epcot and MGM are so close. And the BW was fun. We are going to go back and stay at the Poly for Halloween. We love MK and seem to center everything around that park. Maybe when our DD gets older we will stay at the Epcot resorts more. No one in my family likes Epcot except me. :( Hopefully some day.

Whoa, you thought the Poly room was too small!?

The rooms are smaller at the BC/YC than Poly.

You may want to try another year at the POLY since the kids will probably want to visit MK more than EPCOT.

Just a few thoughts

I agree with anita46. The rooms at the YC/BC are a lot smaller than the Poly. They are not much bigger than a moderate resort room. Both resorts are nice. SAB is much better than the volcano pool IMHO. One thing the BC was missing was a place to get a quick bite to eat. The wait was always long at Beaches and Cream, but Hurricane Hanna's by the pool was ok. The poly had Captain Cook's which had tables inside and outside. I think it is open 24 hours. Both resorts are nice, but my preference would be the Poly for many reasons besides what I mention here.

depending on how long you're staying, I would consider staying at both...

every trip we make, we stay at an epcot resort and then switch to the poly GVC...

while at the epcot resorts you can visit MGM and epcot easier...also u can enjoy the BW...

then when you switch over to the Poly you can do the MK and the restaurants at the hotels on the monorail...

we are going from august 25-sept 1....first three nights will be in a BWV and then 4 nights in the Poly...we wouldn't do it any other way... :)

Thanks for all the great suggestions! Oh, I think the reason we thought the Poly room was small was that our first night there we could not get the Poly, they were booked solid. So instead we had to take a one bedroom villa at the WLV which turned out to be fabulous - we hated to leave it! Was very very large. So to us the regular two bed Poly was small in comparison. They are the only two resorts we haved stayed at.

I'm thinking of going with Copper68's suggestion of perhaps staying at the Poly for our first 4 nights, then finishing off at BC for the final 3. Just hope its not a hasstle having to "re" pack and pick up and move. But would be nice to see both sides of things in one trip.

Silver, we are splitting this time around too. Originally we were splitting Poly and YC, but now we decided to try WL. We are starting at WL, because the kids will want to do MK first thing. Then we are moving over to YC to relax, spend more time at the pool and visit Epcot and MGM. We are going in Sept. I'll let you know how it goes.:
