Polynesian Tour

Do they do anything fun on opening day?

i don't know - post and let us know...

from watching ebay, i think i remember first day guests at BLT getting prints and maybe commemorative pins. but that's all i've heard...

There's a drawer under the bed and the coffee table/chest has storage. But because the TV cabinet has the murphy bed underneath it doesn't have storage. I hadn't really thought about that. Thanks for the video Mike. With limited storage it would be hard for a family of 4 or 5 to stay a week there if they wanted to unpack. In addition to the under bed drawer there's space for a small suitcase (like a carryon) but I'm not sure where people who stay a week would put luggage otherwise; especially a family.

We always put the luggage next to the connecting door in other studios. Will there be room for luggage in a PVB studio in that manner? Or is the entry way too narrow?

I keep hoping someone will open the ottoman and the drawer under the bed to let us all see the storage space.

The entryway isn't too narrow but it would depend on the size of your luggage. It's supposed to be wider than most studios so if that's where you put them in other studios it should work out fine.

Am I the only one that is completely bummed there will be no 1 or 2 bedrooms?

It just seems so extreme- you either get a studio or a bungalow. Not that we use the kitchen often but it adds so much space and seating for us- you just can't get that with two connecting studios. Then you have the lack of a washer and dryer- I know there are facilities but I'm not fond of waiting around for my clothes to clean- seems like a complete waste of time.

I was really looking forward to staying at the Poly but I guess we are just too spoiled with our 1 bedrooms.

April 1 is the day we arrive at WDW - for our first stay at VGF...Maybe I will stroll on over and see how it is going.....:rolleyes1

Do they do anything fun on opening day? I have no interest in owning Poly...I am a VGF kind of girl, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy a dole whip and watch the festivities :)

We were there for opening day at VGF, and they had an opening ceremony first thing early in the morning. It was really adorable. Mickey and Minnie arrived in Grand Floridian attire.

But other than that, from what we could tell, they did absolutely nothing throughout the rest of the day.

We had a friend that did the invited tour last night and before they showed them the studios, they were given pins and leis on arrival, they saw some Hawaiian entertainment, watched a DVC promo, answered trivia questions, met Stitch, and drank dole whips. And after viewing the rooms they had appetizers.

Maybe it is worth signing up for the DVC tour.

No, there are many threads which have mentioned just that very fact. In fact, while PVB may be a rousing success, it appears there are many who will not consider buying there (myself included) primarily because there are no 1BRs.

No, I think we would have added on some points if they had 1 bedrooms. We like to have breakfast in the room and even though we could accomplish that with the studio kitchenette, there's no real place to sit comfortably for 4 people. We often also bring a favorite game to play one night and the dining table in the 1 bedrooms is perfect for that. We usually have short stays so I didn't think the washer and dryer would be that big of a deal but we've ended up using them more than expected - for towels, wet clothes after a rainstorm, etc.

Hmmm, I might not be able to make it. We fly in on that day. Plane lands around 9:30 am. Now that you say that I do remember the VGF opening day info with the characters in their outfits...So cute! We will still be there multiple times throughout the week anyway...Have to eat at O'Hana for breakfast AND dinner :thumbsup2

I do not understand why the dues are so high. With the exception of the Bungalows, there is no kitchens. Therefore no fridge, stove, pots, pans, dishes, silverware etc. to replace. No Jacuzzie, no washer/dryer per unit. Are dues for BLT and VGF higher?

Snake and gator patrols. ;)

Do you know how long the tour was? I signed up for a Member Event that starts at 4pm and have a 7pm ADR at Beaches & Cream. Wondering if I need to cancel or switch my ADR.
