Hey, once again thanks for all the immense help you all have already been. But we got our member ID over the weekend and booked two standard view studios for 9/2-9/11 this year.

Our party will consist of myself, my wife who may or may not be a few months pregnant at the time. And 2nd room will be my parents who are both around 55. Only thing we can think of to request is to be near each other if possible, and my wife prefers non ground floor. At this point walking isn’t an issue or my parents, but not sure later on obviously. Are there any suggestions people can think of from like a convenience standpoint, or a certain building to request etc? Lava pool proximity might be nice, but not sure whether to prioritize that and then miss something way more important like walk to monorail etc. just fishing for ideas here on what might be necessary.

Thanks so much!

DVC buildings are Moorea, Pago Pago, and Tokelau. We requested (and got) Tokelau for our 4/18 visit. Tokelau is the most central building of the 3--so 'closest' to the main resort area. It's next to the Oasis pool (none of the DVC buildings are near the Lava pool.) Moorea is the one along the beach--so 1/2 the building is lakeview and it is the only building with laundry. Pago Pago is near the parking lot. Both Pago Pago and Moorea are closer to the walkway to the Ticket and Transportation center for the monorail to Epcot. There is a small elevator in each building if needed.

Polynesian does have connecting studios--so you can request 'connecting' rooms if you want to be that close to your parents.

Thank you! This information is super helpful to at least discuss with everyone on what’s best. We might do adjoining thanks. My two younger brothers might or might not join us depending on their work but that we like that extra space for luggage if needed for adjoining area lol.

I second everything Geomom said. Except that I want to make it clear that, even though the laundry facilities are in Moorea, people from any of the DVC buildings can go in and use them.

On our last visit, we requested 2 rooms close together (got interconnecting), in Tokelau, on the top floor (3rd floor). We got all that, too. I liked Tokelau and will probably request that again.

I would stay away from Pago Pago, unless you are willing to have a view of the parking lot. About half of the rooms do, but the other half, facing the commons areas is fine. Maybe you could request it, but on the North side, the NON-Parking Lot side.

The ferry across 7 Seas Lagoon is also near the Ticket and Transportation Center.

Pago Pago and Moorea are a bit closer to the Transportation Center. Everyone now needs to go in through the Front of the TTC, in order to go through security, so the walk from Polynesian is extended a bit. It is about 1/3rd of a mile to the TTC from Tokelau, or a bit more, and about 1/4 mile to TTC from the other two buildings. On the other hand, Tokelau is a bit closer to the main building and the restaurants, and the monorail stop than the other two.

Thanks from looking at the map I was leaning more towards Tokelau. But just to make sure I have it right, the TTC is more where you head if you want to get transportation to Epcot correct? If so that just might make it easier for our decision while we always do a day at Epcot, it is definitely the park we spend the least amount of time in our trips. While MK is where we spend the most.

Yes, it’s a short walk to TTC for monorail to Epcot.

I request Tokelau upper floor and have never had a problem getting it. In fact, some units at the lagoon end actually have a fireworks view. Love getting one of those. ☺️

The one issue you might have is wanting two rooms together.

We've just returned from a trip, staying at Tokelau 3rd floor facing the Oasis pool. Highly recommend this room request. Lovely view, did not hear any boat horn, and it's a very quick (<5min) walk to both the main building and TTC. The resort is less spread out than I imagined, realistically any of the DVD buildings is very convenient.

Pago Pago is the only building that might land you a car park view (the side facing the TTC). Standard view in the other buildings will be garden/pool view.

Thanks! I’m thinking we might look into that route, once I get the ok from the boss lol. Adjoining isn’t the hugest deal, we would just like to be remotely close together if possible. But no one under 18 so not a deal breaker. Good to know on lagoon end info. Maybe we’ll get lucky!

Good info thank you! And just to make sure I have it correctly pool side or “other sides of Tokelau are both standard correct? So if they wanted pool side that would be an option potentially as well?

I second everyone recommending Tokelau, and yes, all of this building is considered a standard view. We stayed there in room 3916 about a year ago and the location was great. I would've preferred a room on the Oasis side, but you can't win them all. The first picture is the view from the stairwell landing just steps from our room, and the second is a pic from our balcony - both are panoramas. You can't go wrong with Tokelau!

Two standard ways to get to Epcot from Poly: Walk from Poly to the TTC. Or, Board the Monorail at Poly and take it clear around to the TTC, and then switch to the Epcot Monorail. (Unless you have your own car, or you want to rent an Uber, Lyft or Minnie Van.) Taking the monorail around the loop to the TTC, it stops at Grand Floridian, Magic Kingdom and Contemporary before going on to the TTC. Total time with that method is about 25 to 30 minutes to get to the TTC.

All of the buildings are good.

Oh wow I just assumed that was a post signature and wouldn’t have noticed lol. Thank you for this. That view looks great to me! I think this will be the route we go.

Thanks! I swear I’ll get this down some day haha. Appreciate the route description to help us decide.

We stayed at Tokelau second floor oasis pool side two doors down from the stairs/elevator (farther from the lake) and had a nice view of the fireworks at night. It was great! Also we were staying other family and requested three studios in a row and got them and had joining rooms with my folks.

We found Tokelau to be convenient to many things, from the Great Ceremonial House, to the TTC, even laundry. It was nicely situared. I think it took about 5-7 minutes to get to the TTC and about 3-4 minutes to get anywhere else within the resort.

We were two floors below that in Tokelau 1916 a year ago and we loved it! We liked first floor because we had a stroller, but without small kids, a higher level would probably be nice.

Tokelau was great for the convenient access to the pools and the TTC. We found the express monorail and ferry to be quicker ways of getting to the MK than the resort monorail bc they didn’t stop at the GF and went straight to the park. So unless we wanted to stop at the main building to pick something up from captain cooks on our way out, we took the TTC transportation to both Epcot and the MK.

Another great place to watch the Magic Kingdom Fireworks is from the Deck of the 3rd floor external stairway on the north end of Tokelau. There is a nice large wooden deck that you can relax on, though you have to bring your own chairs. AND USE BUG SPRAY, depending on the time of year. You can even hear the music/soundtrack for the fireworks, since they pipe that in to the beach, which is down below and to the left of this Stairway Deck. Tokelau is close enough to the beach for the music to work.

The Express Monorail runs counter clockwise, on the outer monorail track. It ONLY stops at the MagicKingdom and the TTC, running constantly on the loop between them. So you can only get on it at MK and TTC.

The Resort Monorail runs clockwise on the inner monorail track. It stops at Poly, GF, MK, Contemporary/BLT, and the TTC. It takes about 5 minutes from the time it leaves one stop until it is ready to leave the next stop. So, around 25 minutes from Poly to TTC.

The ferry from the TTC to MK is generally faster than the Resort Monorail, and might even beat the Express Monorail. You should try all the different ways, just for fun. It is pure Disney World.

I freely admit that the food at the quick service (Captain Cooke’s) was one of my biggest disapointments at Poly. I REALLY didn’t like the food at Captain Cooke’s. And I am not a picky eater, however I felt that at Capn Cooke’s they ‘reached too far’ and the flavors didn’t balance well.

In the evening, you can order the Ohana meal (Skewers, Noodle’s, etc) from room service. Costs about $50, but the 'single' order has too much food for two people.

I also strongly suggest that you make daily reservations for breakfast/lunch at the Kona Cafe. Much better than Captain Cooke’s. If you don’t have reservations, you can usually show up at Kona Cafe for breakfast or lunch, then go up and have them put your name on the list, and most days you can get in within 20 minutes or so. I do like Kona Cafe a lot. They are Asian Fusion and Island food, and it works quite well, in my opinion.
