I currently have a standard room booked for the fourth of july week. Trying to decide if I should upgrade the room. To do theme park view is an extra $800 or so, and to do Garden view CL is an extra $700.

We have never stayed at the Poly, so I don't have a good sense of whether or not it is worth it. We have stayed CL at the Contemporary with a free upgrade, but since it was an upgrade at check in, we really didn't make the most of it.

Stay where you are the rooms are the same and it is not worth the extra money for a view. The poly is a beautiful resort no matter where you stay. I have stayed at the poly numerous times and have always stayed in a standard room. You can always walk around and enjoy the view. You can also sit on the beach and watch the fireworks, but it is not the same as watching wishes at magic kingdom. The monorail is great to go to magic kingdom

We stayed GV at the Poly and loved it. With that said, we are not ones to pay extra for a view (but we do enjoy staying CL), so if it were me, I'd upgrade to CL or stick with standard view. This is just my opinion, but I don't think there are any bad views at the Poly. We were in Samoa and had a pretty view of the quiet pool. We have not stayed CL at the Poly, but will be giving it a try in December. From reports I've read, the view from the lounge can't be beat. If the extra $700 is doable, I'd upgrade to CL; otherwise, I'd keep what you have. Good luck.

We've stayed Garden View, and requested--and gotten-- a full balcony both times.

The view is wonderful-- all lush and beautiful.

I would spend my money elsewhere instead of upgrading.

think the standard views are facing the parking lot - would just ask for a higher floor - then you might get to see the monorail go by!

when the Poly first opened you paid extra for that view.... Like at the CR you paid extra for the lake view....

boy do times change :rotfl2:

We stayed CL standard view at the Poly and loved it. The lounge has huge windows that you can view Wishes from and we enjoyed feeling pampered. We were on the third floor and had a balcony that overlooked the quiet pool and lots of vegetation.

Unlike most Disney resorts, standard does not indicate only a parking lot view at the Poly. There are only 3 buildings facing a parking lot on one side, the rest of the standard rooms are lush garden views similar to CL GV. I wouldn't upgrade to lagoon or theme park view at the Poly myself, just not worth it to me, but I would consider CL though we haven't tried it yet. CL sounds lovely!

I would stick with the room you have or upgrade to CL GV. We are staying CL in June and have worked use of CL into our plan. We leverage CL for breakfast, hit the parks at RD, pick up CL snacks for the pool in the afternoon, hit CL for appetizers, then back to the parks, maybe back to CL for desserts at night. The upgrade to CL is a tangible benefit for our family.

I'd agree with PP, use the money to upgrade to Club Level if possible, would be way more beneficial in my opinion.

Any stay at the Poly is a great one, but staying CL with a 30% discount is magical. :wizard:

I am there from June 27-July 2. You would be guaranteed a brand new room. :thumbsup2

Once you stay, you will be spoiled, but grateful for the extra space of the lounge, the view of the castle each morning and night. The food and drink are bonuses.

Enjoy!!

If you are doing any sort of meal plan, I would not pay for CL. If you are not, I would do CL over a view, because you can enjoy the snacks in the HI building, and go right outside to watch the fireworks from the beach...:)

We booked MK view when we went because we were on a meal plan, and planned on watching the fireworks from our room. (Anniversary trip.)

We got upgraded to CL...and having access to snacks almost next door WAS AWESOME but we definately did not take advantage of CL as much as we would have if we were not on the dining plan.

We stayed Garden View Standard, and Water View Club Level at the Poly. It's worth every penny to upgrade to Club Level even with Garden View. I'd go garden view Club Level. But, don't wait too long to change the reservation because they could sell out for the time you are going. Have fun.

We stayed GV CL on our trip and really utilized the lounge. It was a great convenience for us, since the kids weren't super interested in full meals (unlike at home!) Just loved everything about Hawaii.

I would choose standard over theme park because you can just walk out and enjoy that view any time but, if I had the budget, GV CL would win.
