Has anyone done the Spirit of Aloha Show at the Polynesian?

We want to try out some new restaurants/shows this time around and wondered about this one. We also want to try the Hoop Dee Doo Revue. We did Mickey's Backyard BBQ on our last trip and really enjoyed it.

We are also wanting to try 1900 Park Fair for dinner, Crystal Palace for breakfast, The Garden Grill for breakfast, Cape May for breakfast, Garden Grove for dinner.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on any of these restaurants as well as the dinner shows.

Thanks! :)

I have done all! Lets see:

Spirit of Aloha: good, i recommend, but got a little long for small children, food is unlimited but not too many choices. If I remember correctly just chicken and ribs with some kids meal choices (if you ask).

Hoop de do: Funny time, very entertaining for all

BBQ: really fun if you have very small children (preschool) lots of dancing with characters

1900 Park: good buffet, good character interaction, you will wait even with an ADR, very crowded and loud as you would expect

Crystal Palace: always a favorite for any meal, characters do a little dance with the kids as well as come to the tables

Garden Grill: only done for dinner but it is kinda cool how the restaurant rotates. fun

Cape May: great character interaction, nice buffet, great service!

Garden Grove: Fair, food was ok, only 2 characters 30 minutes apart (that is the rotation) not on the dining plan. If you go there is a coupon on restaurants.com

Let me know if you want to know anything specific!!

My DD9 loved it. Food was okay.

I do not recommend spirit of aloha during summer. The venue is NOT air conditioned and it is hot and uncomfortable...which means the servers are hot and sweaty and who wants hot and sweaty people serving your food dripping sweat ,just gross

We've done the Hoop Dee Doo and the Spirit of Aloha. Food is about the same at both. All you can eat, beer and wine included. Make sure you order one more drink before the show starts, because they stop serving during the show.

I thought the Hoop Dee Doo show was better especially for kids, but would still recommend either show.

We went in October, so weather was great, but I can see what the pp means about it being too hot during the summer. The whole thing is in an open area with a roof over it.

One thing about the Hoop Dee Doo, if you have small kids you might be better off sitting in the balcony. If I recall correctly, all those tables are up against the balcony (someone correct me is this is wrong) so you look down at the show and no one is in front of you.

We really enjoyed the Spirit of Aloha show.....we thought the food was very good and the show was cute :). For the other restaurants, Cape May Cafe is one of our favorites.....we eat there at least once every trip for breakfast (as well as dinner) :goodvibes. We were just at 1900 Park Fare this past December and we thought the character interaction was great and the food ok, although we remember the food and variety being better in past years.

:) We did Spirit in 2006. It was nice, food OK and the entertainment VERY Hokey like a Beach Party Bingo type skit....but then the fire baton guy came out and literlally stole the show. The evening was worth it just to see him during the last 5 minutes. It can get cancelled during inclement weather. At the time we went they were doing a nice photo before seating you. We were glad to do it once....but not a do over.

HDDR we saw in Dec for the first time. DH wasn't interested and MIL and I went. We were late, almost the last table seated--but our server was great and very attentive. Pretty much everyone had their salads already. Anywho, the salad was excellent and served on a cold plate. The cornbread was warm and very tasty. The fried chicken and ribs came out in a pail which was a lot of fun, and delicious. The actors come out into the audience and everyone enjoyed themselves. Adults were smiling as much as the kids. It really is a cute, well done variety show. The servers are part of the last bit and then you get dessert. We will DEFINITELY do this again. :thumbsup2

1900 Park fare I just remeber from several years ago for Breakfast as being OK, haven't returned.

Crystal Palace is great for kids and the food is pretty good. It is hoping and loud in there.

Haven't done the others.

Same goes for BBQ! We went in July and although it was fun, the heat was horrible. The pavilion is outside and doesn't get much of a breeze, besides the fans that is.

I've done SoA twice. It is a very good show. The food is good. All the kids get called to the stage to do a little dancing at the beginning of the show.

HDDR is also very fun. It is an interactive show and the food is good old southern comfort food.

I wouldn't hesitate to do either of these show again. I wish I could fit them in on our next trip.:rotfl:

I LOVE the Crystal Palace for breakfast. We always make 8:05 reservations (the earliest seating available). You get to enter MK when there are very few people on Main St. and you can get great pictures of the castle.

The Spirit of Aloha show is amazing!!! It really is fun for all ages. And I also love 1900 Parkfair for Dinner... the stepsisters are hilarious!!!!
