Polynesian rooms question?

I am super excited to stay at the poly this May but my husband just asked me if all the rooms have been renovated? Does anyone know? I thought I read something awhile back that some of the rooms were going through rehab.
Oh, and since this is our first time at the poly,does anyone who has stayed have any thoughts on a building we should request? We have a garden view room booked May 9-May 13.
All input/opinions appreciated. Thanks much.

Yes, all rooms have been renovated. I am staying at the Poly in July for the first time, so I can't help with the location of a room. I am, after reading many Dis posts, requesting Tokelau for it's central location...

The rooms have all been completely refurbed and they look wonderful. We stay at the Poly all the time and love it there. We always stay in Hawaii...CL and love it. But have had friends stay in Tokelau who were very happy with the area. Hope you have a wonderful stay!

You can take a look at the map of the Poly and decide which of the longhouses suits your needs. Then call Disney and have them put a request on your reservation. Just remember requests are not guaranteed.

Yes, there are no more dreaded brown walls up on property.

The rehabs included new bedding, furniture, closets, bathroom fixtures, carpet, drapes, accents, and huge flatscreen tvs. The rooms a little darker than they used to be-the new decor is deep, rich colors. The older bedding was light green and there was lighter colored wicker furniture.

All of the rooms have been rehabbed. We've stayed in a Garden View room (Samoa) and a Lagoon View room (Tuvalu). For garden views I usually recommend Samoa, Fiji and Tokelau--in that order. As other posters have stated, you can make the request but it isn't guaranteed. And definitely reiterate you request at check-in.

and it is central to everything. We stayed there though because some rooms are garden view, but have a great sideways view of the castle. (you have to go out on the balcony and look to the right.. but it was very special.) These rooms are on the 2nd or 3rd floors 901-913 or 939-948. They overlook the quiet pool. Hoping for this again in August!

Tokelau, Rapa Nui and Tahiti are the three "newer" buildings, though all were renovated at the same time and are equally fresh. These 3 buildings have slightly larger rooms, most have double sinks, and all have 2nd-floor balconies. (The older buildings have no balconies on the 2nd floor, though they look like they do in photos.) Of these 3 buildings, Tokelau has the most central location, though Tahiti and Rapa Nui are nice because they are VERY close to TTC (but further from GCH and pools).

View-wise, IMO Fiji has the nicest garden views, looking either at the marina or the beach leading to the GF and monorail. I also like the Volcano pool side of Samoa and the monorail side of Aotearoa. Location-wise, IMO Rarotonga is best for being steps from both GCH and bus stop, with just steps to quiet pool and 1-minute to Volcano pool. Niue is the smallest longhouse and used to be the smoking building, so it's often overlooked, but it's got a great location, too just next to GCH. I haven't yet mentioned Tuvalu, don't know anything about GV there, the lagoon views are nice!

Each longhouse at the Poly has its advantages, no matter where you are, you will find plenty to like about it. You'll see!
