In my last post about insane original hotel prices one responder claimed to get the Poly in August for under $200 including tax!...Sorry couldnt paste her reply here..BUT!! is she just way off? Is this for real? Why didn't she tell us how, which agency..Personaly I do not believe it. I used a pin at 35% off rack rate and booked mid week at the lowest day rate of the year September 17th..My rate for a standard was $278 not including tax! $313..So how does she get another 30% off that??? Poly is not DVC yet so no buying points and even with military discount the max yould get is 40% off rack...Is she for real or pulling my chain?

Any chance she got a CM discount? I know they can be up to 50% off if the CM stays in the room.

Why not?

We stayed on a cm discount 3 years ago in an off season time and got it for $239 before tax. I'm guessing there's a wee bit of fudging on her part.....

It's not hard to do a little research and think about the WHY of this. The main pool is going down for an extended rehab starting in August, and Captain Cooks is out, so you have no quick service option. Add the construction at the DVC site to the absolutely lowered amenities and $199 per night is probably right. The quiet pool is no where near large enough to accommodate all of the Poly guests, mid-day, in August, September and early October when the temperature meters back and forth from miserable to completely intolerable.

Could also be a travel agent rate. Have stayed at most of the deluxe resorts on agent rates for $149-249/nt including over New Years at the YC 2 years ago.

There are some travel agencies that book blocks of rooms with Disney. They can book their clients with group rate savings. One in particular is said to have a great rate around Labor Day. I don't think we can post their name here, it has been talked about here before & any posts with the name are removed.

If this is true it could actually bring me back to Disney, despite the other things that seem negative right now. Would love to find that rate in the fall!

I'm staying at the Yacht Club in August for the price of a moderate. With park tickets plus a "fun" day at a water park, Disney Quest or golfing. Like the other poster I am using a travel agency who offers an extraordinary rate due to booking thru Disney group sales. Blocks of rooms are booked at Deluxe resorts then the group/convention rate savings for rooms & park tickets are passed along. The reason the other poster did not give you the name of the Agency is that they are a direct competitor of the travel agency who sponsors these forums. Any mention of the competitor is not only frowned upon here. but those threads get closed or deleted pretty quickly.

Can you give us a hint?

No Cpt. Cooks, no monorail, and no pool. Keep in mind that half of the resort will be under construction, including the Great Ceremonial House! That 199.00 would serve you better at Port Orleans or similar. This of course is only my opinion and others may vary.:) We LOVE the Polynesian but you won't find us anywhere near there during this "transformation" period.pirate:

It IS the agency that cannot be named here and it's during their August promo.:thumbsup2 No one is "fudging." Current rumor is that the Volcano pool will be "torn up" at the end of July.

Agreed! We are not staying at our beloved Poly this year and are going to try the Beach Club instead... As much as I love the Poly and don't think any place will compare I am very much so looking forward to the Beach Club!

It IS *** and it's during their August promo. In fact, it's $198 per night with tax, not $199.:thumbsup2 No one is "fudging." Current rumor is that the Volcano pool will be "torn up" at the end of July.

WoW! I'm on it! Just couldnt believe that rate..thought I was so cool at $313 in September! Man oh man...at $198 I'll swim in the other pool and ignore the construction...big difference between $800 high season and $198 wouldnt ya say? Thanks!

When the heck is a standard room at the Poly $800? Are you comparing a standard view to a theme park view or club level? If so, then yes there is a bug difference between the two.
