Hi everyone,

Have never been on the grounds of the Polynesian so am hoping for some tips.

My family and I will not be staying there but will be having dinner at Ohana this summer. My husband found out he needs to take an online class on the night of our reservation (which is early evening) and I’m wondering if it’s possible he could leave dinner early and find a place to sit and take his class while the rest of us finish dinner and take a look around the resort.

Not being resort guests, is this okay to do? If yes, any advice on places he could go? Would WiFi be available to guests not staying at the resort?

Thanks for your help!

Does he need quiet? If so, it could be difficult.

The Polynesian is challenging because there really are no quiet nooks in the lobby like at a lot of the other hotels. But there are places to sit, if that's all he needs.

There is a public wifi in the lobby, but there aren’t any quiet spots. Poly Lobby is rather loud. It may be a better idea to change dinner reservation to a different night.

If he can find a place to sit, then maybe a pair of good headphones or even a gaming headset with microphone would work for your husband. It's my experience with online classes that all you do is listen. You could also see if the class itself is recorded and your husband can view the class later.

I'd suggest that he take the monorail over to the Contemporary, then take the escalator down to the second floor. There's meeting space there that's usually pretty deserted around dinnertime, and plenty of sofas and chairs.

The monorail station at the Poly is on the same floor as Ohana, right opposite the restaurant entrance.

We found it to be very quiet down there. And quite comfortable.

A good set of headphones will make a big difference. I take my bluetooth ones and it blocks out almost all the outside noise, I have used them at the pool and in the GF lobby and had no issues listening to a anything on my laptop. I will be taking them again in June for a conference at CSR:)

Ask them if you can use that little DVC office in the GCH. They go to a DVC building to do the sessions anyway.

Thank you all! Your advice was helpful. In the end, we decided to change our reservation to another night (grateful there was something available! I didn’t think there would be.) which allows for him to enjoy the meal without the stress of the class hanging over his head.

Thank you for your help!

Definitely the Contemporary. When we travel my DH typically has a few meetings he has to call into and he found MANY quiet almost deserted areas at the Contemporary for his calls. He says that has been the best place he has found so far.
