Polynesian Pool ?

We will be staying for the first time at the Polynesian at the end of the month. My 2 DS (7 & 4) both love to play in the water. Do I need to take swim shoes for them to wear in the pool? They have shoes that they can wear to the pool but did not know if the floor of the pool is very rough or not. Also, how deep is the water at the end of the slide at the volcano pool? DS (7) is looking forward to this but is not a good swimmer. Thanks for your help!

The pool bottom on both quiet and volcano pool is the typical textured bottom. The surrounding area does get very hot on warm days, so pool shoes might be good for their tender tootsies. I noticed a lot of the younger set that played in the zero depth entry end wearing the pool shoes.

It's close to 4 foot at the bottom of the slide, as I recall. I'm 5'4" and it was about chest high. You are able to stand near the bottom though to catch the little ones.
