Polynesian points, why so high?

Ok so we are starting to plan next years trip and I was so excited to try the poly, but the points are SO high, for the studio it's like the same as the Gfv.
Is there a reason for this? The poly has always been my dream hotel (as a 12 year old my BFF went before we'd ever been to wdw and after seeing the pics it was those pics that pursuaded my mom to splurge on our first trip there, but to CBR not poly as ouch!)it's 17 years later and I'd still love to stay there I think because I was so wowed at the time but the points just seem irrationally high. Basically are they high for no reason or is there something I'm missing? We own blt and I kinda feel a bit like whaaaaaaat?...

More money for Disney. The point creep allows more points for sale and that couples with the higher price/pt means bigger profits from sales. And people continue to buy.

But there's no like reason for us, like they are bigger or have amazing views or anything? I'm trying to pursuade myself to stump up the points but I can't seem to rationalise it when we could pay less to stay at blt and can't really see the difference,

The studios have 2 bathrooms and sleep 5. They do have a larger living area than the BLT studios which are the smallest of any DVC resort. Some of the LV rooms might be as good of views as BLT has but that's only going to be on the 3rd floor and maybe the 2nd. Transportation is nice with the monorail both the MK and then you can walk to the TTC to get right on the Epcot monorail vs BLT with resort monorail to TTC to the Epcot monorail. But there are still areas that BLT wins hands down with ability to walk to MK and the fireworks viewing from TOTWL as well as the beautiful views of Bay Lake (without bungalows blocking the water view).

But, IMO, it's mostly just a matter of resort preference and valuing that with the point costs. Maybe you would want to try a split stay since you've thought about staying at the Poly so long?

We looked at the POLY DVC studio - loved it
Space under the bed for suitcases
Nice pull down mattress four our DD who is only 5' 2" and 102 pounds !
DS gets the pull our couch - we get the bed.

Is there a pull out drawer below the queen bed too?
Storage in the chest in front out the pull out couch?

Looks like enough electric outlets in the room and 2 showers perfect for our family.

Comparing prices for May 2015 ->
David's has the Poly DVC studio for $282 per night
WDW has the same room for $504 per night
No brainer :badpc: David's wins hands down ! :cheer2:

I think that given it's location, the fact that it has the 2nd bathroom and sleeps 5, make it an attractive option for those that have larger families but don't want to have to go with a 1 or 2 bedroom at other resorts. In that respect, it is worth the points if you are comparing to a 1 bedroom elsewhere. But, with each new MK resort, the point cost has gone up and it's scary when you look at BLT, theme park view and it now seems "doable" when comparing to Poly and VGF!!

Hello, the Queen bed is a pull out, there a now drawers under a pill out sofa. there are no dressers in the Poly, sort of shelving in the only closet, which also holds the pack n play, vacuum, etc. pitiful storage space

Poly studios are much bigger than BLT. I can't imagine staying with more than 2 adults in a BLT studio, it is so cramped. I stayed in a VGF studio last year with 2 friends, there was plenty of room for 3.

There is a queen bed plus a queen pullout. Other DVC studios except OKW have double pullouts. There is a drawer under the queen bed plus space for luggage. There are also nightstands on both sides of the queen bed, other DVC just have 1 nightstand.

It's not really two bathrooms. Just a separate shower in an attached room. Still only one toilet. One tub with a shower in the tub like always.

I'd rather book an OKW one bedroom instead of a Polynesian studio and the number of points required will be about the same.

The drawer under the bed would be wonderful
We could hang some items in the closet.
We also have a closet hanging shelf with 4 pockets to put stuff.
Move the pack&play and anything else we can to the top shelf of the closet.
We could live partly out of the suitcase.
The bathrooms look like there is some shelving under the sink.
Maybe a good place to store some closes.
Since no mousekeeping, we could make one bathroom (the one with the tub) the "ladies' and the bathroom with just the shower the "mens".

We go in the warm weather - May - so it is shorts and t-shirts, one sweatshirt per person.
Sandals & sneakers always seem to be placed in corners of the room
Not a problem on drawer space and our DD would take over the shelf under the flat screen TV.

The laundry basket can be used for just that - laundry to be done at WDW or at home towards the end of our trip.

Which Studio DVC has the laundry machines?
Maybe we could request that Studio DVC buidling as long as it has standard views.
We do not need to see a pool or the lake.

Thanks for your help.
I can not wait to see you-tube videos or pictures of the Poly Studio.

I thought Moorea is the one with the laundry.

Here now and really enjoying it. There are drawers on both sides of the bed and drawers in both bathrooms, in addition to the shelving in the closet and storage in the coffee table. It's very spacious even with the pull down bed opened up.
