Hi all,

Heading down Veterans Day weekend to meet up with a girlfriend for a girls weekend. We both land at MCO around 5 PM and will Uber to resort (Grand Floridian). We have a late night reservation at Narcoosees for drinks/dessert to watch late MK fireworks (10pm that night) .

Assuming our flights are on time and we’re settled in to our room by 7pm I’m thinking of hopping over to Poly just for fun and a casual dinner (without reservations). I believe there’s a quick service that has outdoor seating (and maybe a lake view?) but don’t remember the name of it. I’m assuming it doesn’t need reservations, but it will be Friday night of Veterans Day weekend, so also wondering if it will be crowded with long wait times.

Can someone clarify, and also whether you can order those Ohana noodles there? Or if there’s a menu online. Many thanks!

Capt. Cook's is the quick service at Poly that has some outdoor seating, I don't particularly like the menu but it's fine for a quick bite if you're going to Disney quick service type of options. There's Trader Sam's which is the small inside highly themed bar, but the wait is often rather long. Outside there is Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace where there is both a walk-up bar and sit-down service with drinks/light food items - there's usually not a wait here but conditions can vary. Food is limited, but it's a nice spot to sit/relax/take in the Poly ambiance. There is often a musician playing.

For the 'Ohana noodles, you'll need to find a spot at the bar or one of the few tables at Tambu Lounge - second floor of the Great Ceremonial House in front of 'Ohana. Your wait here can be hit or miss depending on exact conditions at the time. Worth checking out and waiting a bit just to see how fast things are turning over, IMHO.

You may have already thought through this, but in terms of getting to Poly - just keep in mind the walking path between GF and Poly is still closed with the Island Tower construction. Your options to get to Poly from GF are take the GF resort boat (goes in a GF-Poly-MK loop) or Resort Monorail, which will stop at MK, CR, TTC before getting to Poly. The resort boat will generally be your faster option.

Hope that helps - have fun!

Shouldn't the path reopen by then?

The Tower opens 12/17 and Veterans Day is 11/11. It's certainly possible they have finished enough exterior construction by then to open the path and obviously I'm just speculating, but I'm guessing/assuming we won't see the path reopen until a little closer to the Tower opening. Would be happy to be wrong.

Thank you, it was Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace I was thinking of! Thanks for reminding me about the noodles at the bar as think I did that once . And yes, am hoping to do the boat if it all possible! Maybe monorail back since it’s just one stop.

As a backup if the Poly gets insurmountable, you could also do a lounge crawl at Grand Floridian,
here's the menu for Citricos Lounge

and Enchanted Rose

and Gasparilla Island Grill is pretty-good quick-serve

Thanks so much for the menus as thought of that as well. That was actually my original plan but somehow always end up over-scheduling myself 😂 I know the bar at Steakhouse 71 is also an option, but don’t love the ambience/decor, and have had mixed experiences with the food.

How does one access TS's Tiki Terrace? Is there a hostess stand outside or do you have to talk to someone in the Grog Grotto?

You can just sit down at an open table. They will have menus on the table and someone coming around. You can also walk up to the bar and order a drink walk away or sit down. Sorry do not know how to explain it best. It is really just an outside bar with tables behind sort of a plant fence. The food I have had there was mostly/all? from Kona same appetizers from what we ordered. It is located in front of the pool entrance closer to the main building. Or to the left of Capt cooks outside if you are facing the pool. It is easy to not even know it is there unless you walk to that area. We have never had a problem finding a table but I cannot say that is all the time as we only go when we stay at the Poly.
