Hello: Been a while since we stayed at the poly, just wondering what others who have seen the new decor thought of it?

Deb.

If you do a yahoo search for tikiman followed by 2001, Steve has some great pics on his site!

I like the new decor. It is classy and well-themed. I also enjoyed the new high quality bedding and plush towels.

Just back yesterday. I liked the new decor very much, and thought it was much nicer than the fairly bland previous decor. My cut-up of a husband "played" the drum table and sang "Babalouie". We also liked the rolling table stored under the desk portion of the wall unit. Very convenient to use throughout the room and then keep out of the way when not needed. We loved our stay!

We found the rooms to be very well equiped and had a good theme, the beds were very comfortable and large and we liked the head board, also I found the deep red bed covers of the newly renovated rooms to be very relaxing. We stayed in the Samoa long house room for a few days then stayed in the conceige room for a few more. There was no difference in the room standard, but the view in conceige was spectacular.

The rooms look dark in the pictures. This is the only thing that I get concerned about . For people who have stayed there... are they as dark as they look?
did you feel there was enough light? Are they lighter than AKL rooms?

We really liked the room's decor when we stayed there in July. Everything is so nice, especially the front area's beverage bar and refrigerator area. :)

I don't believe our garden view room in the Hawaii building was dark. There were 2 dimmer lights on either side of each bed, a wall fixture by the daybed and a floor lamp by the chair, a lamp on the desk and in the hallway, a light fixture over the refrigerator area and then very-cool interior closet lights. I thought they were lighter than the AKL rooms. Plus you could open up the drapes to let in natural light.

Here are a couple pics:

This one - only the desk light was on at the time.

Hope this helps!

It was very hot the first few days of last week, so we actually enjoyed the low light level upon returning during the day. We never felt a lack of natural light with the curtains fully open. The lamps are numerous and I found them to be well placed, especially the headboad lights located on each side of the beds, which are on dimmer switches. I was able to easily read in many places in the room, including in bed without disturbing my already sleeping husband. We even left the headboard light closest to the bathroom dimly lit all night as a nighlight.

We just got back from staying at the Poly. I would describe the decor as dark. That's not to say that the room itself was dark. There was plenty of natural light with the drapes open and there were plenty of lamps. But the decor itself was dark.

I especially liked the TV and the closet space. The bathroom was good size as well. I found these rooms to be bigger (wider) than the YC and BWV.
