Is it worth the extra for LV concierge as opposed to GV Concierge? I was thinking we could use the concierge lounge to view the fireworks. Most of the time we will be around the grounds or in the pool anyhow. I would love to here your experiences and thoughts.

We went last feb and was upgraded from a GV to LV (OMG!). Sadly, my 6 year old is now spoiled and thinks every vacation comes with room service and a view of the fireworks. It was magical watching the lights change on the castle from our room- but again, this was Feb when it got dark at 5:00 and the parks closed early. If you think you're going to be at the parks or even on the beach during the fireworks, it's not worth the extra $$ IMO. We're staying there for 2 nights in May before our disney cruise and are staying in a GV room.

Oh, and yes, you can watch them from the lounge but it's crowed.

Just an FYI, check the rehab schedule for when you are going. We were there when the quiet pool was being refurbished and just walking by was VERY noisy at 2:30 in the afternoon. Not to mention the large, but attractive, wood barrier surrounding the entire pool and the 2 longhouses.

The note we received in our room stated that they "anticipate the work to be complete mid-April of this year."

It may be worth it to upgrade to LV. We were in Tahiti with the LV and it was just fantastic! Cinderella's castle makes a wonderful nite lite! LOL
Have a great time.

We loved the Laggon view and now are spoiled. That is the only rooms we want to stay in now. We went the end of June/beginning of July and the windows in the lounge always had too much condensation on them to see out real well. We haven't been in several years so they could be fixed by now.

IMHO, it's not worth the extra money for the LV room over the GV room. We were in a GV concierge room over Christmas week, and it was great! Often, we just went outside to the beach to view the fireworks, no problem! If it's too cool outside for you, the concierge lounge view is excellent~didn't seem too crowded to me. Another option which worked well for me was to view from the window of the room directly below the concierge lounge where the concierge desks are. I had the whole wall of windows to myself!

I suppose if money were no object, I would go for the LV room, but truely, how much time do you spend looking out the window?

It was worth it to me because with 3 young (1, 3, 4) children were in the room early at night. It was great to get the kids all ready for bed and watch the Electric Water Parade from the room. The castle is just too magical.

But I did get a discounted rate. I don't think I'd pay rack rate price difference for a LV.

I love both but agree I wouldn't pay the rack rate difference!
GV seems more private to me and thus a little more peaceful. The whole resort spells peace to us though so this is relative!

WISHES is so spectacular and I loved seeing it from our room in Nov.. But when we've stayed garden view or more often non-concierge gardenview, we love the EWP and fireworks from the beach just as much. Don't really like watching them from the lounge myself.

Besides watching the castle change colors at night, I also like sitting on my lanai reading while everyone else is on the beach steps away.

Can't go wrong IMHO with either choice.

We stayed in a GV concierge room in December 2002 and have no complaints. We watched the ELP/fireworks from the lounge and it was never crowded; most of the time it was just us and maybe one other family. I guess this could depend on the time of year you go though. :D

We loved staying at the Poly LV Concierge. The view was great. We loved watching the castle change colors at night from our balcony or even from our bed. It was especially convenient because we were able to watch the EWP even on the nights DS4 fell asleep early (that was about half the nights we were there). Also the view of the beach was also wonderful. We even watched two weddings on the knoll outside our room. We were on our first big vacation with the kids, so we splurged. But the other posters are right, the kids (and us) did get spoiled and now expect a great view and Concierge. Unfortunately we will be staying at CR this May because DW is able to get a great discount on a room there. I had always wanted to stay at CR but thought it would be better when DS's were older. We requested MK views, so hopefully we will be able to see the castle. I keep checking other rates to see if the Poly is available but no luck. We will see.

We also stayed LV concierge and loved it. The exception in our case is,the whole family is spoiled and says that is the way they want to go from now on. The reasons are simple they are the same as everyone else--view, view, view! If you do choose to go with the garden view, you will probably find yourself promising that you will one day do the LV. So my advice is ----just go for it now.
Either way I'm sure you will have a MAGICAL time.

This really worries me. I think GV will be ok for us based on the wonderful replies however I do not want views of construction. We arrive on April 18. I am hoping renovations will be complete by then.

I don't want to scare you about the rehab, you may get luckey and it will be done.

The barrier was right along the path between the long houses and the pool. It is about 8 or 10 ft high nicely painted brown plywood. It blocked us from walking past Niue and Raratonga when we were coming from the GCH to Tahiti. We ended up going thru the lobby of Tonkelau.

I only walked past it that Wednesday at that time and heard the noise, it could have been an isolated incident. We used TTC most of the time b/c for us, it was closer. The other times I went by it was after 4:00 so they were not working then (or I didn't hear them).

I also observed that there was not alot of activity (comparitvely to the amount of people at the resort) in the GV rooms facing the rehab. Is it possible they did not put guests in them b/c of the work? I also asked to upgrade to Concierge when we checked in and was told it was completely booked.

Could you call the resort directly and ask once you get closer? They may have the most up to date info.
Hope I helped. If you have any other ?? let me know. I wish I was going back!
