I have reservations for a Poly Luau the night before we leave. But I have heard different reviews on the Luau. Most of my friends have told me to skip it...that the food wasn't that great and that sometimes you can't see the stage very well. I would love your imput. If we do cancel the Luau...what should we do??? We had fun at the Hoop de Doo Review 5 years ago but ...is it still worth it??? My kids are 10 and 6. We are staying at the Poly!!!! I'd like some more ideas...We leave in 8 days!! Wahoo!!!!! :bounce:

My .02, it depends on what you and your family like. Some people love it, some don't. If you haven't ever done it, you may want to give it a try.

DH & I did it a few years ago. It was ok. The food was ok. I did think it was a little pricey. And for all you could eat --- you didn't see the waiters and waitresses very often. By the time they came around I had talked myself out of a refill on my drink (just tea). I think it was probably because they had set times to go to the tables, as they didn't want to interupt the performance.

Once was enough for us.

WE really enjoyed it.
We went last Jan.
Good food, great show, attentive waiters.
It was a lot of fun and we will definitley do it again.

I think it is really a personal preference. You should try it once.

We have been going to wdw for years and we just tried the Luau last year with our 8 year old son and 15 year old godson. Both boys could not take their eyes off the stage. My husband and I both thought it was a very authentic professional show. There are two tiers for seating. The tables near the stage are faced long ways away from the stage and their are small tables on the second tier if I remember correctly. Had not trouble seeing show. The food was actually pretty good, but remember for the price you get a dinner, drinks (beer and wine if I remember) and a show. If you use your AMEX card you get 20% off!! Just found menu:
Pineapple chunks, bread, salad, lanai-roasted chicken, bbq pork ribs, south seas fried rice, fresh sauteed vegetables, polynesian dessert (chocolate and vanilla cake brought out on the volcano trays) budweiser and budweiser light draft beer, white wine, soft drinks, milk, lemonade, coffee and tea. If your child won't eat any of the aforementioned, ask the server and they will bring macaroni and cheese or peanut butter and jelly.

And if you are still unsure about the Poly Luau. Seaworld has a Luau, too, that I have heard is a better one.

DH I just got back from WDW for our honeymoon we did the luau we loved it the food was good the show was very good we actually were seated right in the middle we saw everything just like the other poster there we seats on the second teir. I would recomand this show it was very professial I thought that just my 2 cents.:D

DH and I went on our honeymoon eight years ago. I think if you have good seats and can see the action, you should go at least once. We were as far away as we could be and could barely see. Honestly, the food was horrible and our beer came in a tiny plastic cup. Seconds? Not a chance even if we wanted more. However, the show looked very entertaining and I wish I could have seen it clearly. Have fun whatever you decide.
