We're planning on trying this next summer. What do you suggest as far as the best time? The times are 5:15 and 8pm. We're going the first week of August and I'm worried about the heat. I know it's outside, but is it in a covered area?

This will be my in laws first time at Disney, do you think they will enjoy the show?

For us personally, the SoA show was the absolute worst experience we had on our entire trip last September. Have you read some of the reviews on it? A search here, as well as reviews over on allearsnet.com will reveal a lot. I read so many bad reviews, but couldn't believe it could be as bad as was reported...and it was.

I recommend Hoop Dee Doo Revue, which by contrast was one of the BEST things we have ever done at Disney World, hands down. We are doing it again this year on our trip in December!

Having seen both I too reccomend HDDR. It is going to be hot in August. If you want a dinner show go with the air conditioned HDDR!

Same here. I won't go again. But Hoop Dee Doo was a blast!

I'm in the minority here as we went to the luau for the first time in September and LOVED it :dance3:. We thought the food was great and the show was cute :). I read many not so good reviews before I booked it and decided we had to experience it for ourselves.....and I'm glad we did.....we had the BEST TIME :goodvibes. We were there for free dining but opted to pay for tier 1 seating rather than use 2 TS credits for tier 2 or 3 and we had the best seats.....right up front by the stage.....we had a great view of everything :cool1: :cool1:. My advice is to try it for yourself as you will get ALOT of opinions....some good, some bad......but only you can decide whether or not it's for you. Good luck deciding and have a great time if you decide to go :cutie:.

The seating area is covered, with plenty of ceiling fans. (pics can be found at all ears dot net) The heat is very tolerable.

The show and the food, however...

meh

It's borderline at best, and certainly overpriced. IMO, Disney really skimps here. I'm in the restaurant business, I know it should be no problem to feed that number of people a hot meal with great service.

But, that's not what you'll find at this show.

Our family went to SoA last September and we loved it. The food was really good (we had seconds of almost everything and the adult bev with the meal was very good) and our service was excellent. We also thought the show was done well. Our DD4 was chosen to be in the show and to be the dessert leader and received a hat that they made for her, a glow cube, and the certificate for her Magical Moment.
