This was originally posted on the S&D thread, but I didn't receive any responses.

My daughter would like to have her guests go to the Polynesian Luau the night of their wedding. Has anyone ever done this? Do they accept reservations for a party of about 40, and is there such a thing as group discounts? Would they allow you to wear a wedding dress?

I guess my first question is, is she getting married at Disney?

I haven't heard of any brides eating there after their wedding. I would talk to a manager there and see what could be done.

Mandi is looking into a wedding at Swan/Dolphin since Disney raised their prices so high and limits the guests so strictly. This is a stretch for us as it is. She won't be able to use an annual pass.

I have not gone to the Polynesian Luau personally but I was planning to the night before my wedding. My MIL really wanted us to do it as a "rehearsal dinner" (even though I didn't have a rehearsal as an intimate). I started researching and I couldn't find any positive reviews for it anywhere! I opted for 'Ohana instead. Price wasn't a huge issue but I really didn't want my in-laws paying $60 a person for something that was mediocre at best.

Just food for thought but I would check out the restaurant board reviews.

I've personally always loved the show. I thought it was better than some "real" luaus in Hawaii!!! The food was just ok when I went in 2005. I remembered the food being fantastic when we went in 1998, so I don't know what happened to it. My favorite was this pineapple cake that they no longer serve. The atmosphere is a lot of fun too. I've never been to O'Hana before, but if you're going mainly for entertainment, the luau would be great.

I'm also a fan of the Hoopty Doo Musical Review too!

We celebrated Mandi's 18th birthday years back at the Luau. She loved it and that is why she wants her wedding night dinner there. I enjoyed it also. I thought the food was very good and the dancing was great and it was well worth the money.

I was considering doing the exact same thing on the night of our wedding at the Luau. I am not getting married at Disney because we have the in between number of guests....around 30 or so. Too big for an intimate but too small to justify a custom. I would like to wear my dress as well. If you find out anything at all about this, can you please post on the board?

We're also considering O'hana's as well. Will they allow non-disney brides to wear their wedding attire? I have never received a definitive answer on this. It seems like if I call Disney, I'm going to get a different answer from everyone.

We had planned on doing the luau for our welcome party, until people comlained about it. Anyway We had it booked for 35 people, we did not get a discount, we had to book it through Disney Dinning so I don't know if they would let people in with their "wedding attire". But maybe if she bought a less formal dress for dinner that would work. I know a lot of brides that buy 2 different dresses..one for the ceremony and one for the reception, it's more common than you think.

I thought you could use the Disney Dining Experience card for the Luau; however, I think you can only use it for the later show. It should get you a 20% discount for up to 10 people.

You have to be a Florida Resident or Annual Passholder to get it. It costs $65 for the card. It would pay for itself rather quickly though.

I dunno about non-Disney weddings, but I had asked about using the luau as an option originally for me. One instant turnoff for me was that if the show was canceled because of weather, so was the entertainment for my reception.

You might be able to book 'Ohana's or the Luau through the Magical Gathering thingie if you're not doing a Disney Wedding. I don't know if you can wear your wedding dress in 'Ohana's, but I do know they'll do large parties. I had originally questioned the manager there when I thought I was having 50 people, and he had informed me that they usually seat the larger parties in the area that's kinda of enclosed near the bar (the one with the big statues), as opposed to by the windows.

Good luck!
