Hello all, brand new member but have been reading these boards for well over a week and have gotten extremely educated...............THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR INFO.

Anyway to point at hand we are going in about 4 weeks and are undecided about Polynesian Luau or Hoop De Doo, ideally if we were wealthy we would do both....LOL..........we are not wealthy!!!!! Anyway I personally have seen Hoop De Doo and thought it was ok. Daughter has not ever been to either.

So feedback would be great and recommendations also.

I am definately a thrifty traveler and have already saved alot on the hotel and just signed up for hotwire to get the meal vouchers........i bought 12 for 138.00, this is a family of 3 that can rack up a 100.00 dinner bill so no twisting my arm on this one, but again thanks to all your input and actual list of savings helped in decision making.

I also went to the library today and got a few books on disney one was an econo guide done in 2002 and some great tips in there. Food for thought, people ask if you could viably park at a disney resort if you are staying off premises and just hop their transp. to onsite to cut time and price of parking, he says yes and no they can check for onsite id, however they encourage offsiters to visit their shops and restaurants so you do the math, I certainyl might try it once anyway.

Thanks ahead for reading my lengthy post and PS im also thinking about the fireworks boat ride so maybe if somebody is gonna be there when we are we can share, I know good luck in getting thru, LOL.

Assuming your daughter is between 3 and 10, I think she'd like the Luau. They get to do the hula with the cast. The food is pretty good, too. I was expecting not to like the food, but I was stuffed. I didn't mind the unlimited beer, either. ;) That bit me when I had to carry my 10yo son home. I don't think you could go wrong with the Luau.

Don't know about the parking rules. Alot of people park at Downtown Disney, and go from there. As far as resorts, I think Beach Club would be the easiest to park at without an ID check. From there you could walk to MGM or EPCOT, or bus to the others.

I just had the same question and after reading many reviews on this site and others I opted to book the Hoop Dee Doo. I just think my kids would enjoy it more. I do plan to do the Luau in the future. You might also check out Mickey's Backyard BBQ info. It sounds fun and has characters. Like you, if I could I'd do both. We haven't seen any of these so I think we'll have a good time!

Welcome to the boards!! I'm new too!:earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

i'm semi new also... and am loving these boards as they have realllly helped w/all my planning... our last few trips have been "wing it" trips, but this one i'm giving lots of thought and preparation to... hopefully we'll get to experience more and have as great or greater a time as the last few trips...

we did the luau last time we were in wdw and it was okay... not worth the $ imo... just did not "wow" me! this time we were torn between mickeys backyard bbq and hoop dee doo... we chose mickeys bybbq based on two main things... price (it's a bit less expensive) and variety of food (ds is verrrry picky, so when i read that the bbq had hot dogs and the hdd did not, well, that clinched it for me)... i'm sure whichever you choose, you will be happy... after all, it's the happiest place on earth!

about parking at a resort and using wdw transport... imo, it's a lot like pool-hopping... transport is for guests... you don't pay, you don't ride... but that's just my ny $.02!

We have done the Hoop De Doo twice and the Luau once. DD was 5 when we first did the Luau and she loved the part where she got to go up on stage. DH enjoys the food at the Hoop De Doo more and honestly I like the show at the Hoop De Doo. Especially when last time we went DH got picked to wear a pink tutu during the performance. Blackmail pictures are priceless.

I have a good idea of what the hoop de doo is like but what is the luau like? And do you guys think those in their late teens or early 20's would enjoy them? Or are both of these dinners just too 'kid' geared for adults and young adults to enjoy them?
