Hi Everyone,
I was planning on making reservations for the Polynesian Luau for my whole family before my wedding. Is it worth it? Will everyone have fun and enjoy the food. It would be for only 15 people. Any tips or comments are appreciated

I had an intimate wedding at WDW 1 1/2 years ago...still can't believe I got married at WDW! IT WAS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On the AM of our wedding, we treated everyone to Chef Mickey's. It went over really well.

We had 2 characters at our reception. I HIGHLY recommend characters. The photos are amazing & I don't regret doing it in the least. My husband had said no because of the cost but I surprised him with his favorite character, Donald, as well as Mickey.

Can't help with the Luau. We have reservations ourselves for our trip in November.

Who is your wedding coordinator?

Have a great wedding!

I loved the luau, but if I were planning a family get-together type of dinner, I would want it to be somewhere that we could talk during our time together and not worry about watching a show, too. Maybe O'hanas?

Our wedding coordinator is Pam Pierce. I think we are going to try to get Goofy for my mom. She has never been to Disney and loves Goofy!

Hi Cord,
Where is O'hanas and what type of food/environment is it?

It is not a bad idea. You realize it a family style serving??I personally saw the show one too many times so I about had it with that place. If it is the first time for most people I would do it. It is a fun time. I assume all are adults!!

If I was planning a family gathering, I would not pick the Luau- it has really gone downhill in years past and you wouldn't get to enjoy each other's company since it is ery loud & noisy. I also don't think it is worth the money. But that is my opinion!

Good luck!

I have to agree with some of the other posts that the Luau food and experience has gone downhill. :(

Regarding wedding parties... When we went in Easter 2001, there was a wedding party sitting in a front row table, celebrating the next day's wedding. They were obnoxiously loud and stood up most of the time, keeping everyone seated behind them from enjoying the show. Since the show is so loud, the were having to scream to one another to converse, making it impossible for other guests to hear the show. The cast members gave up trying to get the party to be seated - one drunk wedding party member actually threatened a person at the table next to us. We eventually got up and walked out.

I recommend thinking about what you want in the way of a dinner. If you want to be able to converse, there are many other restaurants at Disney that fit your purpose. If you are looking for a break from conversation after being with the relatives all day, then it may be the place. Whatever your decision, think about the other guests and avoid putting them through what we and dozens of other guests sufferred last April.

Whatever your decision regarding the Luau, you'll have a great time! Enjoy!
