Hi gang..yes, I've been to Tikiman's site and scoured the DIS but I want everyone who has stayed at the Poly's opinions. Which longhouse do you prefer for lagoon view and why. I'd love to have a glimpse of the castle, but maybe it's more important to be closer to things with 3 kids. A friend told me to request Tuvalu but I want to know what the DIS thinks!

thanks....

We requested and was able to get Samoa. It was a perfect location. We have two kids 4 and 7. The location was close to both pools and the GCH. We were on the quite pool side. I would stay in Samoa again in a heartbeat.

Our preference would be Tahiti. It isn't all that far removed, but far removed enough--peaceful, serene, private little beach area, close to TTC, but not too far from the GCH and pools.

Now, if you want our favorite building, that's Hawaii! ;)

If I didn't have a LV and wasn't staying concierge, I agree--Samoa would be my choice--nicely sandwiched between the two pools, close to GCH, and the boat launch to MK.

We were there in August. We stayed in Tokelau. I wanted Tahiti but it was being used for concierge at the time. I would stay there in a heartbeat now. Close to the path to TTC, and right on the beach. Great view of lagoon and MK!!! It's only about 7 min. walk to GCH and pools. Probably shorter than that. That would be my choice.

bumping this up because I love the replies!
Anyone ever stay in Tuvalu??

I'm a big fan of Aotearoa (for the love of Pete, I can never spell that right!). It's a really short walk from the GCH, you can see the castle from your balcony, and you can catch the Poly Luau music from outside, as well!

I can't believe no one else has said how fabulous this bldg is:confused:

We had ground floor, lagoon view - OF THE CASTLE!! - and the bldg is just a short stroll away from the GCH..yes, it is "around" the Marina, but it really isn't far ( esp with the musical shrubs!!;) )

Fireworks, and the EWP from the room (the kids in bed - what a way to drift off to sleep!:D ) and your own "private" beach that never has anyone on it...

...I guess I get a little carried away:crazy:

Doesn't matter where you stay at the Polynesian - it's ALL good!!

::yes:: Our boys loved watching the "night sparkles"... can't wait to get back!!

Pixie dust to you for a great rate!!:sunny:

I am SO EXCITED! I was watching the Poly on the new planning DVD today, so on a whim I called up CRO, and this time they DID have an opening at the Poly during my stay!! :hyper: So I said goodbye :wave2: to my Boardwalk reservation, and replaced it with 2 nights at the Poly!

I'm going home!

Does anyone notice a trend...we all love whichever longhouse we've stayed in!

We've had around 30 vacations at the Polynesian and have only stayed in 3 longhouses...Hawaii, Samoa and Rapa Nui. I love each of them for different reasons.

As mbb said, doesn't matter where you stay at the Polynesian. You'll love it!

You asked for Feb AP rates--

GV-$199
LV-$231
LVC-$322

I'm almost tempted to upgrade to LV, but my responsible side is still winning out

edited- Oops! I just reread that you wanted late Feb rates. Those are for the 1st week. I'll leave them, just in case anyone else was wondering :)

...go for the LV!! Being responsible means knowing the difference between what you want and what you REALLY WANT!! LOL!!

Maybe they'll UG you at check in...??:sunny:

You're right BCV23...although I think I could fall in LOVE with Hawaii pretty easy!!::yes::

Hi guys, what is Tikimen's Poly website, I lost the address. Thanks.

Tikiman is at www.tikiman2001.homestead.com.
Nice hearing about other longhouses! Just back from Hawaii- my boys (DH included) fell in love with the location & view. Went by Tuvalu on our way back from the Luau. DS6 said it would be too far from the pool for him. Any opinions, Tuvalu lovers?

I have stayed in Tuvalu and it is a good lagoon view but the rooms are smaller and I was not a fan of the location. I got very tired of walking all the way around the marina to get to the pool or boat to the MK. Also the TTC would be quite a walk to get over to. If you are staying garden view than Tuvalu is one of the last longhouses I would suggest. The garden views look right into the side of Fiji and some of the rooms even have cart parking right up against their patios.

The best for lagoon view are Tahiti and Hawaii with Tuvalu and Aotearoa just behind them and for garden views there are many good choices but I recommend Tokelau, Samoa and Fiji. This is just my opinion but again I would not recommend Tuvalu unless you stay lagoon view and even then I think Tahiti is better.

Aloha

Steve

We just had an incredible (GV) room in Samoa (2608) that overlooked the volcano pool and had a partial lagoon view with a good view of the GF. You could just open the slider and take in the view and the sounds with palm trees swaying.........................boy I wish we were still there. Samoa is a great location close both pools and the GCH.

Just returned yesterday from our stay at the Poly. We stayed in Tahiti in a GV room (rooms 1005 and 1006 which were HUGE !!). Although we stayed in a GV room, we just simply walked out the door and around the corner of the building and had a FABULOUS view of the Castle, Space Mountain, and Grand Flordian. We got to sneak into a ground floor, LV room while it was being cleaned and the view was incredible.

The only thing that I didn't like about Tahiti was the LONG walk to the Great Ceremonial House. Granted it was a very lovely walk, but in the very chilly mornings that we had, that walk seemed to take forever. Of course that was before I had my coffee :D :D :D

Now the great thing about staying in Tahiti was the very short walk to the TTC. It was wonderful to just walk a short way and hop on the monorail to either MK or Epcot. If you take the monorail from the Great Ceremonial House and you want to go to Epcot, you have to change monorails at the TTC. So being able to walk to the TTC saved a lot of time.

Thank you for Tikiman's web address. Now if my boss would just leave the office I could Dis more.

Tokelau!!! We just returned Sunday from the Poly. It doesn't get any better than opening your sliding door and hearing Christmas music playing, seeing the Castle, sunshine and palm trees! We stayed garden view Tokelau, 3rd floor, quite pool side, room 3944. It was great! I hated to leave! Have a wonderful time!!!
