Has anyone watched ``Wishes`` fireworks from the beach at the Polynesian,if so your thoughts???

Last December when my family and I stayed at the Polynesian we would sometimes watch them from our room or on the beach and we thought it was a great view from both locations.

As an owner in DVC, can I do the following for the fireworks:

Drive to poly and valet park (free)

Grab a cocktail in the lounge

Walk out to the beach to watch the show

It sounds good to me!

I really enjoy watching Wishes from the Poly beach.

Stand near a music speaker.

(I don't think you can valet park free because there is no DVC resort at the poly.)

I need to try the beach next time. We have made it a new tradition, that the the first night we arrive is dinner at Ohana during the fireworks. Early reservation always gets us a good view. They dim the lights and pipe the music in. I love it, it really kick starts the magic.:wizard:

Awesome!!!

Love to watch Wishes from the beach. Be sure you're near a speaker and not near the pool area though. Sometimes the late night swimmers are a little loud. This summer we watched Wishes our first night. Two nights later when my brother and family arrived, we fed them spaghetti in the villa and took the bus to Poly, got Dole Whips and sat on the beach to watch Wishes. They loved it so much that they went back their last night to watch Wishes again.

I'm not so sure on the free valet parking for DVC members at the Poly. I understood it to mean we have free valet parking at the DVC resorts during our stay & the Poly wouldn't fall into this group.

This is exactly what I had in mind, great minds think alike.DVC is just the greatest, there is no way to put into words the exact benefits when perspective buyers ask about DVC on this site

Free valet only at DVC resorts. I was confused about this too until I valet parked at the Contemporary a couple of years ago and thought it was free...it's not.

That sounds heavenly. I wish we would have thought to do that, but I didn't know you could access the beach w/o staying there. (plus it's very hard to drag me out of MK, LOL)

Thanks all!

If no free valet, I'm assuming I can pay for it or self park? Any idea how much?

Valet is free if you have DDE & eat at a restaurant. You have to bring your receipt and card to valet when you get your car.

We watched wishes from the Poly beach in Dec 07, and didnt hear the music at all. Do they only have one or 2 speakers? I was under the impression from all the people that suggest it that it was easily heard from the beach area. We sure didnt. We did watch from FW marina before the HDDR last wekk and they pipe in the music.

valet parking is indeed free ONLY at DVC resorts, other than the DDE/TiW instance mentioned by mgriff75.
valet parking at non DVC resorts is $10 per day. this is not per resort, but per day ;-)
[at least that was the situation a couple of weeks ago ;) ]

It is my favorite place to watch the fireworks. In fact that is where and when I proposed to my wife.

I had Booked a Savana Studios at AKV, one for us and one for my parents (My sister came too she is also DVC and she let my brother have the couch in her 1 Bed at AKV)

We were there two nights before the rest of my Family showed up so I had to act quick, because it had to be a time when it was just us there. The second night we were there we went to dinner at Bistro De Paris? (The fancy restaurant above the other one, I think just as good and less expensive than the one we went to but I would do it the same way again, in france at Epcot) Then took the monorail to the Poly.

Just as I was to propose:love: the water parade started up(she had never seen it befor) she ran off to see the back end of it because it was blocked by a building:confused3 :rotfl2: .

During that time our perfect seat was taken by a couple walking by. they had no clue we were sitting there. even if they did it looked like we had left.

I finally got her to sit and I asked and she said yes:love: :cool1:  :yay: :cheer2: ,

Therefore, Fireworks ay Poly is my official favortie time and place at WDW:cheer2: .

Kungaloosh.
