Polynesian.. Ease my Fears?

Here's another vote of confidence for the Poly. WE stayed for 7nights in January during both humid and cold weather. There was never any sign or mold/mildew/smoke. You will have a great time. I started to doubt my choice before going as well after reading negative posts, but I think there will be negative experiences everywhere and I also think people perpetuate the rumors to keep the Poly all to themselves!;)

Have a wonderful Honeymoon!!

We stayed at the Poly for the first time 2/9 - 2/16. We too were worried and anxious. Not really due to the negative reviews on the boards because you'll hear good and bad about every resort. We were mainly worried because we usually stay at the Yacht or Beach Club and have never liked any other resort. We've tried many. However, YC/BC wasn't available. So we tried the Poly and guess what? It's our new favorite.

Why? It's a very relaxed resort - and very romantic. The grounds are lovely. Rooms are big. Can't beat the convenience. Love the beach areas and the pool. But most of all, the Poly has the Disney Magic down pat. Great CMs.

As far as moldy rooms - ours certainly wasn't! We were in Tokelau. The rooms are bigger than BC. We noticed a big difference. Some may feel it needs an update - "it" being the whole resort, but I disagree. I think it's perfect just like it is.

And, you're honeymooning. You won't find a more romantic place. Grab a Lapu Lapu (yummy pineapple drink) and find a hammock on the beach and watch the nightly fireworks. Or the electrical water pageant. Take a stroll over to the Grand Floridian and enjoy the restaurants.

Speaking of restaurants, the Poly has 2 really good ones. Ohana and Kona Cafe. Kona Cafe is hands down the best breakfast place on property! And O'hana is quite an experience, along with good food.

We loved it! I think you will too. Especially since you're honeymooners.

PamNC,

Thanks for your observations. We requested Tokelau! Do you happen to remember what part of the bldg you stayed in? I'm not trying to get as obsessive as to requesting room numbers, I'm just curious :)

Have been to the polynesian 3x over the past 4 yr and it still remains our favorite, although beach club villas currently our best overall choice since we visit so often and have 3 kids.
One of the more laid back resorts. Cleanliness not ever a problem. Rooms somewhat routine but still fine. Tough to beat the lagoon view for memories and the landscaping. Have a great time!

The Polynesian is beyond compare.....as Disney's best Resort. You shouldn't be disappointed with your choice. I gotta wonder sometimes, if some people have an extra sensitive sense of smell with some things......like mildew or smoke (?). We're non-smokers and have NEVER experienced smoke smell there. I've also heard people confuse the smell of freshly steamed carpets OR the "foreign-to-most-people" smell of certain tropical foliage as musty or mildew-like. Just an educated observation (yes, my degree is in Horticulture).

As I always say: The only people who don't like the Polynesian, are the people who have never stayed at the Polynesian.

Have fun there......as I'm sure you will!!!!!!! :hyper:

Aloha! Congratulations on your wedding and choosing the Polynesian. We spent 10 days there in May of 2001 and loved every minute!:sunny:

My DH, DD and DS#1 have taken many trips to the Caribbean, (only DH has been to Haiwaii.) I really felt like I was on a tropical island. DH hated the flight to Haiwaii and thought the Poly was way better with a quicker flight and the Parks to go to. We will never go to Haiwaii!!!
