Hi!

I have reservations to the Polynesian, lagoon view, for 4/12 - 4/22 and I'm wondering if I should upgrade to concierge.

Background: Wife & me, with 3 DD (13, 12, 10). This is our first trip and we want it to be very nice, but also don't have unlimited funds. I'm planning on 3 character breakfasts. Could the rest be "free" from the concierge lounge? Are the snacks at lunchtime enough to make a "light" lunch if we happen to be back at the resort for a break? Do they really help with getting desireable PS times, etc? Even for Cindy's Table? Do they work with you before the trip? 120 days, etc, for PS. Any other benefits to offset the $100/day? I really want an excellent view of castle from the room balcony. Are concierge rooms the best?

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Well... I just upgraded to lagoon view, concierge!

So now I guess the question changes to what can I expect?

Thanks!

They only have cookies, candy and beverages at lunch time.

I had the concierge make my PS's for me when I arrived. I booked Cindy's on my own. I had a Garden View room. Lagoon View was quite a bit more. I sat on the beach to enjoy the view.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

We stayed concierge - garden view 10/5 & 10/6. Our patio was very private with tall plants and bushes. Next time I will have to do lagoon view, though. Your family will enjoy the castle view!

You can definitely do breakfast at the lounge. The selections include pastries, cereal, oatmeal (w/ brown sugar and cinnamon on the side), fresh fruit, bagels, milk, coffee, and different juices. My three kids (the oldest, a 17 yr. old boy) was very satisfied with the breakfast selections.

The mid-day pickings were slim - more snack oriented than meal oriented.

The dinner selection was better than lunch. One night they had out salad, fresh fruit, and baked chicken strips (which were yummy!) The other night nachos - no meat. They do set out pre-packaged PB&J sandwiches. You should grab some to take to the park the next day. (17 yr old was not happy with dinner! He liked the AKL offerings the best - lots of meat!) The desserts were fantastic!

Staying concierge was definitely beneficial for our family of 5. Be sure to grab some water bottles for the parks!

Have a wonderful trip!

Hello, we loved the concierge at the poly, especially for running in and grabbing a piece of fruit during the day, oranges, apples, bananas, pears, drinks, cookies, gummy worms, bottled water for the parks, but I would advise for your character breakfast, have it as late in the day as you can, and it can be your lunch.

Loved the dinner offerings, the children have their own table to pick food from, also they can go to the adult buffet, and at 8 oclock there are deserts, wine, liquors.

I have nice memories of our family sitting on the beach at the poly at night and watching the fireworks over the castle and enjoy our desert or the electrical water parade.

You can also eat in the lounge which has the best view ever of the castle, grand fl. If I could afford it again, I would definitely do concierge. But I would make use of the meals offered by them and arrange my character breakfasts as a sort of lunch/brunch. It also saves time on going back and forth. Have fun.

DizzyQueen,
What Poly GV Concierge room did you have? Sounds like a nice, private one (we're staying in December). Was it close to the lounge? Thank you.

P.S. We were going to stay AKL concierge (me, DH, DS 17 and DS 3) but our DS 17 is picky about food...doesn't really like spicy, "exotic" stuff. Was the food there really spicy as others have posted?

I stayed at the Poly lagoon view concierge this past December. We really enjoyed it (as a matter of fact we'll be returning to Poly concierge this December--garden view this time)! We thought the lounge food offerings were excellent, particularly the evening appetizers and desserts. The view of the castle from our room (#1512) was great! The concierge did get me a PS for Cindy's breakfast--I just emailed them a little before my 60 day mark and asked if they could make it for me. The Poly itself was a very convenient resort--I love the convenience of the monorail. The Poly also has great restaurants. My favorite WDW restaurant is 'Ohana. Here' s a link to my ofoto album with pictures of our room at the Poly:

Im not sure I'd pay the extra $ for just me and dh but having 4 boys we DEF got our monies worth. We ate breakfast in the lounge every am. Went to the parks. Had snacks there in the afternoon and desert in the evening time. We ended up only buying one meal a day. Plus you get soda's and 2 ds had tons of chocolate milk. We stayed YC concierge--hoping to try Poly next.

ChucknRita,

We were in room 1532. It's on the first floor and the elevator and the concierge desks were about 3 or 4 doors down from our room. I didn't notice a lot of noise - it was pretty quiet. The plants were so thick we couldn't see past the patio.

My 17 yr old DS liked the chicken at the AKL; however, we do occasionally eat "spicy" foods at home - not HOT spicy, but a lot of spices like curry, cumin, ginger, etc. My 6 yr. old DD liked it just fine. Some of the other selections I recall are salmon, crackers and cheese, and flatbread pizzas with chicken or just cheese.

Hope this helped!

Dizzyqueen:

Hello, we had the same room in april, and loved it. Did you have the ducks and bunnies coming to your patio?

As I do my work around the house I frequently find myself daydreaming about our stay in april at the beautiful polynesian resort, and hope to get back one day.

I LOVE the Poly concierge service, we're going there for our 2nd visit in Feb!! You definately can get away with breakfast in the lounge, but not lunch. All they have out during the afternoon, is cookies, chips, fruit, etc, really just snack food, nothing really lunch oriented. At 5:00 appetizers are placed out, I've never been there then, but heard they are good. The concierge desk will make all PS"s for you, if you ask them. They can't guarantee Cindy's though, since it's a VERY tough PS's to get, but they can certainly try!! Also, the only floor in Hawaii that has balconies is the 3rd floor, which is smoking optional. The second floor doesn't have balconies and the 1st floors has patios. I prefer the 1st floor, it's nice to just be able to walk out of you room, onto the grounds or beach.

There were just cookies and maybe fruit out in the afternoons. Most of the evening offerings were good but some we didn't care for. The sushi night was kind of icky. The food was good but nothing that I would want to make a dinner of (with the exception of the chicken caeser salad).

Hello!
Unfortunately, we did not take the time to look for the ducks and bunnies! We were only staying @ the Poly two nights, and we were trying to get the MK and Epcot done on those two days. I loved the fact that the crowds weren't bad at the parks (in early October), but they closed so early!!!

I can't wait to get back again! We are thinking about combining our stay with a cruise next time - that would be awesome!:Pinkbounc
