Good Morning Disney Worlders! We have been coming down for the past 33 years, for the past 8 we have had a group of 15 of us with 2 (11) 2(10), 9 and 2 yr old. This year we will be adding a 7 week old. We have always predominately stayed at the Polynesian Fuji Building and it has been amazing. This year we have booked the Contemporary Wing Rooms (30%) with the dining plan. This will be a new hotel for the kids, but something is drawing me back to the Poly the atmosphere is just beautiful the resort is softer than the contemporary.

My question is this for all of you who have been down is it better to go to the Contemporary Wing with dining plan or the Polynesian Club Level with no dining plan?

Thank you for your input!!!!!

Wow!! Good question! We stayed at the Contemporary for many years until discovering Poly. Now, it's like Heaven on Earth to me, and has become my favorite resort!

We are heading down to Poly in August, but we only got 20% off the room. I don't know if that makes a difference to you or not. We were not really pleased that the discount was smaller than some of the other deluxe resorts, but at the same time, happy to get something instead of nothing.

For me, Contemporary Wing is not bad, however I much prefer the Tower. I like how everything is all in one location, and at the time, I liked the busyness of it. As you said however, Poly is softer than Contemporary, and the grounds are simply beautiful. I think that after some time, the coldness and the business like atmosphere of Contemporary no longer appealed to me.

I think some would say to try something new, but I say that if Poly is pulling you back, don't fight it. ;) I hope this helps.

I haven't stayed at the Polynesian, but we did spend some time there to visit the resort. As the previous poster said, the Polynesian grounds are beautiful. For me, that's the only draw to the Polynesian. I've seen pictures of the rooms & it just didn't do it for me. The Polynesian also seemed way more crowded than the Contemporary when we were there. No real quiet areas.

I stayed in the Contemporary Garden Wing this year. The Garden Wing is definitely an older style than the Tower which is on the same property. But I found it to be really nice to come home to after a long day at the parks. Our room looked out onto the lake & each day we got to see the sunrise & birds fly over from the island. Every night we got a front row view of the Electric parade. The Contemporary's rooms are the biggest also. Poly is about 409 SF & Contemporary is about 422.

We stayed Poly club level and had a Magic kingdom view....can you book at least one of those....amazing! loved watching the water light parade and fireworks from bed or patio.

We used the lounge for breakfast almost every day. It has enough to get us through the early morning (just wanted to grab a quick bite before rope drop) but if you are looking for a lot of food it is not what you will find. We would rather early lunch after breakfast at lounge.

The building is close to the pool too, and not a bad walk at all to the monorial in the main building, or the TTC. I found the room location ideal.

We've never stayed at the CR and have only stayed GV at the Poly, but my choice would be Poly CL with no DDP. We are trying the CR for 2 nights before a cruise in December and Poly CL for 2 nights after, but if I had to choose between the two, I would go back to the Poly. The Poly is just an amazing resort with a beautiful atmosphere and CL seems amazing from all of the recent reports I have read. With that said, I'm sure you will have a fabulous trip no matter which resort you choose. Good luck.

We stayed GV Club level at The Polynesian this May for the first time and it was fantastic! We are breakfast in the lounge and that held us to lunch. The location is perfect. We had a beautiful view. We were a short walk from everything. If we wanted to watch the fireworks we could go to the lounge and hear the music but most nights, we sat on the beach for the movie, water pageant, and fireworks. Afterwards, some of the grown ups would swing by the lounge for a night cap. The kids (and parents) loved having free snacks nearby. The club level concierge CM are terrific. They were so helpful, gracious, fun, etc. I am planning trips for May and Oct 2014. Depending on the deals being offered, I would love to go back. It's my first choice for resort/room. I have never stayed at CR. it just doesn't seem as warm and inviting. Thinking of The Poly brings about feelings of home, hospitality, and family. It was a magical trip.
I would go Poly all the way.... :)

Contemporary wing room is a great value and you get more food with the dining plan than the offerings in CL at the Poly. The Poly is beautiful but the CR is convenient with large comfortable rooms. Walking distance to the MK is priceless!

Which would I choose?
I would do either one, some trips I have stayed in CR GW and some I have stayed in Poly CL. It depends upon the trip. However, I do like to do both.

Which one would I chose in your place?
If you have stayed in the Poly and not the CR, I would try the CR this time around. Just my opinion, but I like to try all the WDW resorts. I find that they all have something special to offer. (The Poly is the first resort that I ever stayed in at WDW so it has a special place in my heart, though.)

Tough call, but what a great problem to have. You can'y really go wrong!
