I'm still debating where to stay for the last 4/5 nights of our stay in January, it's a toss up between remaining at the Dolphin (15 nights in total) or moving to AKL Deluxe Room or Polynesian Lagoon View.

Anyway, to get to the point! As it will be January, and going dark I would imagine about 5 pm? what kind of view would you have from a Lagoon view room? Is the Lake lit up at all, or would it just be in darkness?

I would appreciate any help you can give me with this as I have to decide what to do before the codes come out in a few weeks. Does anyone else struggle to make decisions and change their mind as often as I do??

The lagoon isn't all lit up, it's basically dark, with the resorts being lit up, with their usual night lighting. If you have a castle view, you'll be able to see the castle all lit up, I think it does turn off as a certain hour during the night so it's not on all night.

There are tiki torches lit up all around the grounds at the Poly. Very nice. And don't forget the water pageant on the lake in the evening.

I just got back last week from the ploy and this was my first stay there. it it was so nice in the evening. the tiki torches were lit and music through out the place and it felt like you were in Hawaii. This is my favorite resort.

From the Poly lagoon, you should be able to see the Castle and watch it change colors! Facing the castle, to your right will be the Contemporary, and to the left, the Grand Floridian. At night the resorts can be seen due to their lighting.

Not sure what you'd see form the AKL--probably not much more than the AKL itself. It's pretty secluded.

From the Dolphin, you can see lots more due to it's location. You have the Boardwalk, the Yacht and Beach Clubs, the Swan and the resort grounds itself. Depending on your location, you'll be able to see quite a lot!

I've always said that the Dolphin and Swan are two of the prettiest resorts at night time!

We loved the view out across the lagoon from the Poly at night. The castle and the GF were beautiful. Also, you can watch the EWP each evening.

The poly lagoon view is beautiful at night BUT AKL at night with the animals being seen from a savanah view room is great also, just a different type of nice atmosphere then the Poly but beautiful in it's own way. Why not stay at both hotels after your stay at the Dolphin, I did 3 resorts in 4 nights, some people say I was nuts but I don't regret it for one second, although I have to tell you I didn't have little kids to drag around. Let us know what you decided to do and have a great trip.
