On Sculpey III, the package says to bake at 275º, 15 minutes per 1/4" thickness. I find that too hot. I bake at 225º for 30 minutes and then let the items cool in the oven.
Polymer hasd to be cured at 275 degrees or it will be brittle and prone to breakage. To properly cure it..I bake at 275 for 15 min per 1/4 inch thickness. I usually bake my beads for an hour! It is very important to make sure your oven is accurate temperature wise, so an oven thermometer is very important. If the temp gets too 300, it can burn and brown (my oven is a bit 'hot' so for 275 i have to set it to 260 for example.)
I also place my items on a piece of cardstock and tent with aluminum foil, as this can help prevent browning. I work with polymer daily..it has become my "work" so if you have any questions feel free to pm me!
Actually, it depends on the brand of polymer clay you are using. Just look on the package of what ever kind of poly clay you have and see what the recommended baking temps and times are.
