Will be sending confirmation fax in a few days. I need input on which area to stay in at the Poly. Our priorities are:

We reserved a Garden View room

1) Closest to TTC and Monorail
2) Newest room or recently renevated
3) Close to Volcano pool

Any input is VERY welcome!!! :bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :jester:

Haven't stayed there yet but we're going in December. I've read ALOT and feel like I know these like the back of my hand. I think Samoa(already renovated), Tokelau (newer, bigger, all balconies) or Raratonga would be your best bets(also newer and bigger, all balconies--not sure if recently renovated).Anyone with REAL experience?

Uncle_dude69 - I'm not sure I understand - are you just trying to pick one of those priorities to send? The TTC is at the eastern end of the property and the Great Ceremonial House (with monorail access) is more or less central and south, so I think your first combo might be a bit confusing, and you would need to pick one or the other, rather than both . (My apologies if it's just that my brain doesn't function after 10:00 p.m.) The volcano pool is also central, but to the north.

I prefer to be fairly close to the Great Ceremonial House because it has:

1) monorail access for MK and Epcot
2) Captain Cook's for breakfast/coffee/snacks
3) Kona Cafe for breakfast/dinner
4) 'Ohana for dinner.

I think the two smoking buildings are Samoa and Tuvalu so you can request/avoid those and for some people that would be one of their top priorities, too. Our room in the southern tip of Tokelau was reasonably close to the Ceremonial House (but you can certainly get closer), had good access to the parking lot (a factor if you're planning to drive to the parks), was close to the quiet pool, and was even close to the Neverland Club. The volcano pool would be a bit of a hike, though. We only ended up walking back once from the TTC, so for us, I know that I don't need to give that top priority in requesting a room. We liked the second floor because we had a balcony, but only had one set of steps to climb (the elevators weren't particularly close to our room).

I think if you visualize your trip and imagine how many times you'll swim vs. how many times you'll walk to the TTC vs. how many times you'll eat/take the monorail it might help you to establish your top priority.

Hope this is helpful, rather than more confusing!

Cindyann--I thought I'd read in more than one place that Samoa was non-smoking after renovation. Anyone else know of this?

Alexedan - My info is pre-reno, so smoking info is quite possibly out of date. I just don't want them to mess with Tokelau!

We just got back from the Polynesian. We stayed in Tokelau and found it to be convenient. It's right next to the quiet pool, about 2 minutes from the volcano pool/GCH and restaurants. And about an 8 minute walk to the TTC. We had previously stayed at POR and my dh repeatedly remarked on how much closer he was to everything at the Polynesian. We were on the quiet pool side of Tokelau and had a decent view of the lagoon. There was construction work going on at Hawaii right outside our window but it wasn't really intrusive. We just kept of sheer curtains closed. Tokelau is also really close to the bus stop, laundry, arcade and Neverland Club. It's a great area!!

And keep in mind that the TTC offers more direct monorail access to both MK and EP. IIRC, the resort monorail - which is what you get at the GCH - stops at GF, MK, CR before TTC (EIEIO!); that'd be a bit of a wait, when you could walk to TTC directly.

We just got back from the Poly last week and stayed in Samoa 1602, with a direct view of the volcano pool, This is a garden view room. We never pay for anything more. Its renovated and a hop skip and jump to the GCH and an elevator or stairs to the monorail there. Close to captain cooks too. We left the sliding door unlocked so the Dss could come back with their mugs or hop out of the pool. Warning, rarotonga which we cut through alot just to get some ac had a strong musty smell and some barriers up for the renovation. I can see where you would want to walk to the ttc but I hope you dont get caught in any of the downpours etc we experienced. Just something to consider. Whatever decision you make I hope you enjoy yourselves. Just maybe have a backup bldg. in case you're not happy. I was nice but persistent because they were originally giving us 2nd floor (no balcony) and I didnt want that. I explained about dss asthma and we got the 1st floor room. I only requested the samoa bldg. on our reservation and I did not fax anything but it was really busy when we were there and now with the FTP I would suggest you do that. I usually fax just to be sure but had too many other things to do so I didnt. Good luck.

The first week of june we stayed in Samoa 1606. It had just been refurbished and it is non-smoking now. It is exactly the room i want next time. Our our sliding glass door was a few steps down to the volcano pool. Good access to everything at the resort. We loved it.
I reccommend this especially if you have any kids. Our DD7 thought I was the best dad ever for at least a week.:p :p
