I have stayed at both and I loved each of them for different reasons.
Our all time favorite is the BC for the Epcot Resort area. We love the proximity to Epcot and being able to also walk to MGM. The Boardwalk is always in view and just a short walk away. We love to eat in the international restaurants of WS. Stormalong Bay is a great pool area. The sandy area is fun for the little ones. For the most part a 4 year old would stay in this area, and you would be able to keep an eye on them without a problem.
But with a 4 year old, you will most likely spend most of your park time at the MK. For this reason, I would choose the Poly for this trip. The convenience of being in a Monorail resort can not be overstated. You can get back to the Poly easily for a rest break or a swim. The Poly ground are beautiful and the newly renovated rooms are great. I find the pool area to be pretty crowded, but you do have the white sand beach nearby.
Whichever you decide, Have a Great Trip!
