Poly View

We were happy with our GV room in Tokelau. I asked for an upper floor near the beach end of the building. We just walked out the back beach exit to watch Wishes, and we could even see it if we leaned out our balcony. We faced Hawaii.

So am I correct in thinking that I will have to book at least a lagoon view to see the fireworks?

If you want to be sure you can see the fireworks, I would. If you don't mind taking a chance, you could book GV, but none of those rooms have a real fireworks view. Best that could happen would be an upgrade or a room at the end of Tokelau where you could let the kids sleep and step outside to the end deck to watch - if you could get a room at the lagoon end then the deck is right outside the room.

I know some of the Figi marina side can see some of the lagoon and the CR, but have not heard anyone mention or posting pics of fireworks. Only 3 longhouses have 2nd floor balconies and those also have the largest rooms at 476 sq ft: Tokelau (mostly GV, 2 or 3 lagoon view, not good), Tahiti (one side faces the lagoon with 3rd floor rooms TPV and most 2nd and 1st floor rooms lagoon, From several of the lagoon view rooms the castle can be seen - but it is small even in the TPV rooms at Poly) and Rapa Nui - all GV rooms, some parking lot side.

Tokelau has a couple of lagoon view rooms, but they are at the very end of the bldg, facing Hawaii and were switched to lagoon view from GV b/c so many guests requested those rooms knowing they could see the lagoon - not a great view and not worth lagoon view price. :thumbsup2

Only Tahiti has good lagoon views, fireworks and third floor balconies.

Just to clarify, if you want a third floor balcony in Tahiti, you're better off booking Theme Park View over Lagoon View. All but one or two of the 3rd floor rooms are TPV.

But this post probably meant 2nd floor balconies, as all the longhouses have third floor balconies.

The TPV rooms at the Polynesian are definitely worth it. Our first two times at the Poly we stayed TPV and our last time we stayed GV. We did feel a difference.

There is just something special about waking up and seeing the castle from your room and being able to sit in your own room and watch Wishes from the balcony after a long day fun day in the World. Trust me you won't have any problems seeing the castle or fireworks.

The only thing we ever have to worry about with a TPV room is if you want to take advantage of watching Wishes from your balcony you need to plan your day so so you are in the room to actually watch it. This sounds easy but can be quite challenging. Recommendation: Save money on dinner one night and get a take-out pizza and bring it back to the room to eat on the balcony as a family and watch Wishes.

Best of luck!

Do you know what time Wishes is at the end of Jan?
