Poly Tower Speculation

The lack of a real table is the only thing I don't like about the SSR renovation, everything else is fantastic.

Here's where I go, "I told you so."

Making a separate association makes absolutely no sense as I said WAY earlier in this thread. Zero.
Why do you think management needs to make sense when we can point to so many instances of them ignoring good sense?

They did say "our plans right now" which is not the firmest commitment I;ve heard lately.

So wait, was it announced?
Did some one say

“We are announcing that the poly tower will be part of the original association”

Or are we inferring based an implied statement

OK. So I'll get to say it twice. I'll wait and do it again in 6 months. :-D

Just announced at the condo association meeting today that Poly tower will be part of the existing poly villas and bungalows association.

If true, that's going to save me $50,000+.

Was planning to buy new 2074 Poly.
Not going to buy 2066 Poly, new or resale.
I know its only an 8 year difference, but those extra years are for my grandkids.
I have no need to spend that $ now, as I have enough points for my current needs.
I can wait for the next "New Resort", or the next one after that.
(or maybe FW Cabins, if the price is right, lol)

But if they change their mind, my bank account is going to cry.😂

Ditto

It was noncommittal, but certainly the way they are currently planning.
This was a topic they knew they’d have to address coming into this meeting one way or another. DVC owners were not going to let them out of that room without bringing it up. Rather than dance around it or tease it out with a later date, they answered it pretty clearly.

In addition, the process for creating a new association is long and expensive, so it’s highly unlikely Disney wouldn’t have already started the process if they wanted it to be a new association. I can imagine spending unnecessary large sums of cash on legal fees is not something Disney is too eager to do right now given the current state of the stock and market cap.

I’m not sure that the cost of doing some extra paperwork would prevent Disney from doing anything….

Disney doesn’t really have legal fees, they have staff attorneys

And even if they did have legal fees, those fees are a tax write off….

We are not talking a small company here

And just for the record, FL timeshare laws are pretty specific about what developers can and cannot say, and while I'm no attorney, I'd guess that one rings a bell that can't be un-rung.

You and me both. 😉 My only caveat was DVC not always doing the thing that makes sense. I'm glad they did this time and have essentially completed the resort they initially planned on.

Well that like my plan right to buy 450 points….

Unless it’s the same assiociation…

I’m still waiting on the sub 100 / point at Riviera contracts and the sub 120 / at BLT.
For myself it means there might be one last direct purchase. Were it not then I was done. Not quite understanding BLT on your list but wouldn't do PVB now.

The quoted phrase shown above in the Merlinandthemouse post (#710) is that the DVC rep said, "Our plans right now are for the new tower to be part of the existing Polynesian Resort." If that is exactly what was said and nothing was added later, then the phrase has a large hole of uncertainty in it other than it says it is only "our plans now," which could change. The "Polynesian Resort" is the whole Polynesian resort of which DVC is a part, i.e., the DVC rep may have been saying no more than what DVD said when it originally announced the Poly tower, in which announcement it adroitly avoided saying it would be part of the original Poly DVC and said only that it would be part of the Polynesian resort.

To me, this is a very cleverly worded statement. Being part of the existing Polynesian Resort implies that it is not a new, standalone resort, but a tower that is sharing facilities and services with the resort. The current Polynesian Villas and Bungalows is also part of the existing Polynesian Resort. What is not said is if the tower will be part of the existing condominium association or, more specifically, Disney's Polynesian Villas and Bungalows.
